anyone ever get tired of just being "as fast" as the typical new family sedan?

Once upon a time i wanted a fast mark. I did the cobra shocks, tune, carrier bushings, engine mounts, MAF, CAI. Woke the 97 up a lot and I thought it was fast. Then I got my hawk.... 4.10s, magnaflows, full suspension, subframes, solid engine mounts, 6 puck clutch, adjustable master cylinder, short throw shifter and now i know a whole new definition of fast. Just wait till the Y-pipe Long Tube headers and LS6 intake go on.... Low 12's in a car that weighs over 3700 with me in it. It looks bad ass too.

I got my second mark for the luxury. It's hard to look better and ride better in a car that costs as little as these do today.

Remember, back in 1990 a Mark VII LSC would spank almost anything on the road. Today 225hp at the crank in a 4000lb tank wouldn't keep up with a base ford fiesta.

I own a 1992 Lincoln Mark VII LSC. I love my car....

In a drag race, I would probably lose to many new cars. But sometimes speed is not everything. Time goes on. Our cars are not getting younger...

I own my cars because I want to.

Don't forget, the civic si is also wrong-wheel drive
Our Marks look much nicer, they cost over 40k new, they are unique, last of their kind, many don't know what they are or how to work on them, and they, like my Mark vii, were ahead of their time with technology.
Gotta love it. I could go on and on.

I'm really thinking of getting quieter exhaust on my car until it has the nuts to back up that sweet sound. I wonder how well two turbos would fit if I ditched the airbox, put the battery in the trunk, maybe moved coil packs, and possibly fan shroud? I suppose I'd then want a forged crank, connecting rods, pistons, ported heads, turbo spec cams, lower the compression ratio to around 8.5:1, etc
I guess my main problem would be knocking out the shock towers to fit turbo headers. hmmm
I'll be seeing the one to ask this weekend.

Considering most new cars have 5-6-7 speed auto transmissions. Our 4 speed is a prehistoric joke. Any Maxima, G37, or Lexus would just walk away without even trying hard.

My 94 MB S500 had 315HP and 345lb/tq. and that was a good car/ motor.

I dont consider out cars fast, they are just fast enough for my needs and Im happy with that

The Mustangs new 6 speed auto sure would be fun in the Mark VIII.

I agree, I'm just waiting for the frigging aftermarket to get a standalone computer for the 6r60/80.

Happy days will be here again.

suhsweet. I'm so out of the loop. Just last week I heard GM had a 6 speed auto too. Never knew the newer Stangs came with one.
