i need some help on getting my v8 Ls gen2 to stick any ideas ???

Gut the car, start from there I guess.

Well...... Were money no object it is certainly possible. It would be cheaper to buy a Cobra Mustang.

Theres not a manual that will bolt up to the engine from what i read on here. Of course its possible with an engine swap.

find the best hod rod shop you can find, then sign the blank check.

or buy two things, a for sale sign, and a CTS-V.

everything, its still an automatic, it is never consistent with shift times, always having to downshift through every single gear every time, instead of just being able to clutch in and pick the gear that you know your going to need coming into a turn, down shifts are just plain rubbish, if you need to ever drop down a couple of gears to pass anyone, its never as smooth or well timed as just leaving it in auto mode. some times you just want to clutch in and coast...

Tremec > Getrag > auto trans with "manual mode"

I personally prefer automatic with manual/sport option. Don't have to get a work-out if i want to hit up some twistiest.

While i do agree on the LS taking a little too long to downshift/upshift in manual mode, but i still think it does the job well.

I never understand this. I drive mine in stop and go NYC traffic and ripping through the backroads of VT and upstate NY. In neither location do I consider it a work out and in neither would I prefer an automatic. About the only place I could see an auto being better would be on the drag strip (assuming you have the right stall speed and axle). Now if I could have the power of the V8 with a MT rather than the peaky power of the gen 1 V6, I'd take it in a heart beat.

I've considered selling my LS many times just because it is an automatic. After driving a stick, an automatic seems like you aren't even in control. Many people do not realize a manual transmission with a clutch offers a whole lot more than just changing gears yourself. Clutch vs TC. Clutch win.

My next car will not be automatic.

Get a V-6 manual. Build a duratec TT and call it a day. Cheaper than a custom bell housing, running lines, etc, etc. Plus the V-6 has a getrag manual. It's not a Getrag V160, but it will still handle power. They are rare but still cheaper than doing a conversion.

exactly, autos just suck the fun right out of driving.

well then, what ever you do, dont ever drive a CTS-V or M3 if given the chance. you will quickly realize how far ford came to creating a great car.

I would never own a manual daily driver, its not meant to be a race car and frankly I like the convenience of not having to shift. If I wanted a sports car to drive once a week it would be a different story, But I have no clue what you think you are gaining in having a manual daily

When I learned to drive, you had to learn to manual shift to pass the class. (1957)

QuickTime offers a scatter shield (bell housing) that can be drilled to match the AJ engine block. Several of the aftermarket flywheel mfr.s will drill any crank pattern you supply. Hydraulic throw-out bearing packages are readily available. Where's the difficulty?

Same place it always is on this forum if no one did it obviously can't or shouldn't be done. Seems to be an issue in the car world as a whole. New thinking or projects are stupid until completed and then they are okay until everyone does it. Ask a hot rod guy about drifting, instead of respecting another comunnity it's just dumb.

Maybe I'm just dumb. It what would any of that have to do with putting in a manual transmission

i would think that if half of what the computer is trying to control is missing, there is going to be problems.
