Are Marks cop-magnets?!?

The car itelf isn't a cop-magnet, it's your color:

silverfrost/light graphite

You color is very light and noticeable, day or evening. Don't take it the worng way- I actually like you color, it's quite attractive. But bright colors will jump out at us- think of why a stop sign is bright red and not black.

Also, bright colors help radar- true story. Dark colors like mine, or particularly forest green, midnight blue give the radar a tough time. A cop told me to always buy dark colors; he says his radar plays havoc when he tries to nab dark cars as opposed to the ease of bright colors- and that's why brighter cars like yellow, red, light blue, etc get pulled over more. Look up insurance statistics for more proof.

As for my personal proof:
I've been pulled-over for speeding once in my dark charcoal Mark. My black Conti- none. My light tan Crown Vic- twice, my charcoal Cougar XR7- none, my white Old's; 10 times! So color has alot to do with it too...

Well, when I lived on the East Coast I always had dark cars, but now that I live in Arizona, let's just say it's been 110 degrees every day for the past week -- so as far as black on black or the like, case closed!

Funny, most folk here on the boards talk about rolling the Marks outta storage and sighting them around town coz it's summer. It's just the opposite here -- with the scorching temperatures, most of the pretty Marks are usually tightly tucked away in air conditioned garages! But since I just got mine, how could I possibly resist driving it?

I just bought my 2nd MarkVIII last month, driving him up from Tampa.... On the way home to Ohio I was visiting friends some in ATL., some in Augusta. Crusin' between the two cities at about 95mph a car came up behind me. I wasn't used to those auto dimmer rear views or driverside mirror so I was surprised, I got right and when I looked over saw it was a cruiser!!!!!!!! I crapped my pants!!!! Broke my Mark down to 80 then figured what the .....and rode the cruisers tail all the way in, close to 100mph.

Majority of the ride up to Ohio from Tampa was mostly a clear path and brake lights thanks to my boys opalessent pearl white smile :) Best ride I've ever driven, now looking forward to the drive to Chicago for the meet - see ya all there :)))

sheit, we ALWAYS get stoped going to colorado... right in Hays, Kansas. the first time, we were going 103 in a 70 zone.... the cop pulled us over, asked that dumb question, "do you know how fast u were going?" and then told us it took him 15 minutes to catch us lol. the the second time is was an 89 in a 70. we went flying over this hill and the cop was at the bottom... the time, we pulled over for him :). but both troopers that stopped us knew what we had under our hood cuz they both gave us compliments, and one even said he wished the Marks could be there cruisers lol. yes... MY MARK is a magnet :L

Nope. I'm absolutely certain now.

The Mark VIII, 1990s Continentals, and Ford Mustang Cobra use the DOHC (four cams total) V8.

Current Crown Victorias use a V8 with a SINGLE camshaft for each cylinder head.

Have you never watched Mythbusters??

Episode 18: Beat the Radar Detector
Then the crew tests several speed-radar-busting tricks, including hanging a disco ball from the rearview mirror, covering the car entirely with aluminum foil, and painting the car with flat black paint to scatter the radar's laser beams.
premiere: Oct. 13, 2004

I never really get pulled over, but they harrass me a lot. They hear the exhaust blowin by, loud bass.... they figure it's some young punk lookin for trouble. About every other day some cop rides on my ass for FOREVER, and seriously takes every turn that I do.... even when I sometimes go in circles just because I think they're following me... lol

hey thats not fear to say
from what iv been looking into allot of ppl have told me that i can make true dual work in my continental there no room

the police never look at me in my mark unless im doing something really dumb. i dont have rims for that reason.

my anser to all of this would be unless your for shur that it,s just you and another driver don,t do anything stupid lol
just do the opsoit of what everone would want ok a mark maybe it might look like a cop magnet from the outside
but drive it like granny then open it up make the :q:q:q:q there pants :)

the key is to follow a flashier car on the highway - no eyes on your mark viii when you're following a yellow ferrari through a speed trap.

I used to get away with ALOT in the AssassinVIIIor even WITH the exhaust/rims/lowering because the cops would roll out and I would slow down and they would speed RIGHT by me looking for a Camaro or Rustang because none of them would have, and did not suspect a Lincoln Mark VIII, or any Lincoln for that matter, to have a loud exhaust.....even with the huge-by-huge tips I had on the car. :Beer

Two weeks ago, I was on the planning committee for the Barclay's Classic PGA tournament @ West Chester Country Club in Hoity Toity West Chester NY.

Took Palisades Parkway... Got stopped twice... Got a ticket from a NY State Trooper, who actually commented more about my car than my speeding... Actually looked it over front and back! Even said, I like the wheels, but the exhaust looks illegal. I said you can barely hear it idol... LOL He said, plead "Not Guilty" come to court we'll work something out...
