After that it's 12 gauge, 20 gauge and a 30-06, a 45-70, a .218 Kilbourn Bee, etc. At some point I'll run out of loaded magazines, but I've got lots of loose stuff. At some point they'll probably go bother the neighbors, who, to my sure knowledge, are also prepared.

I'm not going to make any preparations either way, and I do so confident because I don't live in the city. But if you live in Chicago or Detroit, is it wrong to have some concern?

First, I forgot the last order I made from 'Cheaper than Dirt'. That ups the H&K 91 count by a half dozen. And 500 rounds of .308.

Second, as I said somewhere here recently, the makeup of the city of Detroit shows a more-than-90% count for those of African extraction. And Metro Detroit is the most violent metro area in the country. The only true motivation for the '67 Riot was summer temperature; sporting goods (gun) stores fifteen or twenty miles from downtown were ransacked. I don't think it would take very much to start the same thing again.

Don't forget that Detroit was the place, until recently, where several hundred fires were set on the night before Halloween---just for celebration's sake. I owned a half-empty apartment building that I was fixing up. It was set on fire three separate times on the one night. It's now an empty lot.

To the contrary. Despite being handed a recession, followed up by an economy shattering terrorist attack, we had six years of growth and strong economics. The cyclical nature of the economy means things always have to slow down. The banking problems were experiencing and the ensuing economic fears are the result of Democrat regulation.

I'm absolutely NOT preparing specially for what could happen after next week. I'm ALWAYS ready for what ever might come along. Before I open the door, to a stranger, the little Kahr 9 is out of my pocket and in my hand, hidden by the opening door. This just makes good sense when you can read about home invasion in the newspaper almost any day.

I DO NOT believe that my neighborhood will be ransacked. But Jomini said to be ready for what an enemy CAN do, not what you think he MIGHT do.

You should understand, all Americans should be required to look towards to the great "G"- government, to provide us support and protection. When we are threatened, we shouldn't be self-sufficient and responsible enough to defend ourself, we should have to flee or hide and hope that the government can come protect us... it's the ultimate form of dependence when you have to look towards a bureaucracy to defend your family and possessions.

...and Obama IS going to go for your guns.
Pelosi and Reid are writing the legislation as we speak. They won't ban "guns"- but they'll expand the list of guns that are illegal to own and the accessories that are illegal, like 10 shot clips. And they'll also change the laws protecting firearms manufacturers from lawsuit, thus driving all the makers of civilian firearms out of business. Another radical change they'll be able to affect through the courts.

Obama has said he supports the second amendment, but that's legal talk.
Since he's a dishonest politician, he been on both sides of this issue as it's been politically expedient. The only times he's been specific has been in regards to LIMITING that right.
