Ash Try 2005 LS V8

My ash tray won't stay shut. Any ideas or suggestions?

I don't smoke btw lol.

mock it back by smoking. it'll stay shut

If it is like mine then the plastic molded-in post that points down from the bottom of the dish, broke off. I have considered a couple ways of fixing it, but have not tried any yet. Right now I have a quarter holding it closed and basically forgot about it. I intended on hitting a wrecking yard for a replacement but now that the quarter has been there for a while it is now showing wear on the painted surface.

every one that I have seen that wont stay closed is because there is a little plastic tab that has been broken off. the only way I know to properly fix it is to replace it.
