Auto Wiper Issue...

yeah my 2000lsv8 has the auto wipers and intermittantly freaks out by going to high wipe for a second or two... makes me snicker... damn wipers.... always wondered how the anti-ice strip in the windshield worked too... hey does anyone know if the heated seat is just the bottom or back also?? seems the back gets warm a little but i could be imagining it....

Ah, so in essence, they keep the wipers from freezing and attaching themselves onto the rest.

That's one benefit of the system, yes.

Sorry, I meant to respond to this question earlier. Heated wiper rests mainly help in keeping ice off the wiper blades, which in turn is supposed to help clear the windshield better. They do not de-ice the whole windshield. I believe they work automatically and come on when the outside temperature goes below a certain level (35 degrees F).

Yes, that's right. They come on automatically when the outside temperature goes below a 35 degrees F and also any time you turn the rear window refroster on.

Regarding the heated seat, mine gets nice and toasty on the back and bottom.

I forgot to add that the other day, the auto wipers really came in handy! Bless 'em. :)

I was driving down the highway, and it had just snowed the previous night. I forgot I had elft my wipers in auto mode, but thank God they were! A truck in the opposite lane came barreling down, and threw a huge pile of snow onto my windshield. For 1 second I couldn't see a thing, and then almsot instananeously, the auto-wipers kicked into rapid mode, and swept my windshied clean. It was really great!

How does the sensor work exactly?

Its an optical system that can "see" moisture on the windshield. I believe that if the static light beam is perturbed by water droplets on the windshield, a sensor detects this and engages the system.

is it possible to put heated seats in an ls that does not have them already?

i did not expect leather to get that cold in Arkansas, it actually snowed here last night, no ice on the roads and still the school was closed. WTF!!!!!!!!! they never closed the school this easily when i was there, dammit
