I clicked on a link at LSKoncepts home page (lower left hand corner) to Globalautoshop.com and took a look at their cold air intake for the Lincoln LS. Anybody have any experience with these? Fit and finish issues? Appreciate some feedback, if any. Thanks.

No, but it looks good and it has a heat shield and that's what I am looking for in a kit. I'd be interested in some feedback.

Its tempting, I just might buy one myself.

I spoke with Warren at KKM yesterday and he has decided to look into a heat shield for the KKM True-Rev Sport Induction Kits they sell. We talked for quite some time about it and we are going to work on something. Give us some time and we'll come up with a heat shield for the KKM's.

That's good news, Ken.

If you and KKM can, see if they can make one like what comes with the K&N. The shield on that B&B, to me, really isn't going to do much since it's still pulling in hot under hood air. Looking forward to what you guys come up with!

That's the plan is to some how copy the K&N shield a little. We talked about using the existing holes where the air box was to mount the heat shield.

Sweet. I'd be on board for one myself because I always say I'm gonna make a shield and then I get lazy. :D

I'll wait awhile and see if the heat shield becomes a reality. I'm really more concerned with the air wash from the fan than heat. I might have to fabricate a totally new discharge tube and put the filter in the fender well.

Will you accommodate customers who bought the KKM whom did not receive a heat-shield the first time around or are we out of luck?

We plan to offer it as a stand alone item so that previous KKM users can get one.

That's a rhetorical question, right? Do you somehow feel you should be entitled to one for free?

Sure, why not? we have been asking for one for months and now someone is finally listening, I took my intake off because the damn thing was too hot. And what does it matter what I think, what gives you the right to question what I am and what I am not entitled to? If anything, you should be pushing for the same thing as me since you own a KKM.

Sorry, but I'm not a tightwad who feels the need to push for something free that wasn't even available when I bought my intake. That's who I am. Either pony up the dough when it's available, make your own, buy a K&N or keep your stock junk on the car. Pretty simple concept.

I imagine Ken will offer the shield as an option for the KKM, which makes sense for someone running a business.

A tightwad, yeah, ok buddy... the intake kit should of included one from the beginning so with all the positive reviews from this forum I bought one and have been displeased since.

I understand that it would have been a good idea for it to come with a heatshield, but you knew going into it it didn't have one. Thats like buying peanut butter and jelly and saying "man, this would be ALOT better with bread and milk, they SHOULD have thrown it in for free!" Sure it would have been nice, but you cant expect KKM to hand out free heat shields.

Looking forward to a KKM sheild, even though my home made works quite well.:)

So in other words, we have to pay, correct?
Yes. We would offer the KKM kits with or without the heat shield with price variations of both. Also, for folks that already have the intake kit then it could be purchased separately.

King open conical filter systems are sold everywhere in the automotive aftermarket. While a shielded unit would work better if you take a good look at most of the shields they truely aren't keeping all engine heat out and some look like they probably don't work at all...just looking like it.

If Ken's kit was priced like a heat shield should be included I could see your arguement, but its not. Its priced like a quility adapter and filter can cost, sure it could be done for less but its not out of the range. If it had a effective quility sheild it would cost alot more.

I too have made a pretty slick template for a heat shield for mine. Just didn't follow though on it. Even have all the materials. The LS breaths well under the hood compared to some cars, not that it wouldn't help, just hasn't bugged me enough to take the time to complete it.

That's great news! Any idea on the price range? Will there be one available for '00-'02?

I ran the system on my LS for well over 4 years without a heat shield and never felt any ill-effects of not NOT having a heat shield. I agree with you that the LS does breath good under the hood. I guess that is attributed to how the air moves from the upper and lower grille areas.

At this time, Warren and I have not set pricing for the shield. We are in the draft phase of this now.

If you weren't a tightwad, King, in the firstplace you would've ponied up and gotten the K&N with heat shield instead of the KKM without.

So I think the price of a heat shield after buying the KKM evens out with the fact you could've gotten the K&N to begin with.

If you think your so "entitled" to it or so "displeased" with it, but don't want to give up the cash, then go make it yourself for cheaper or stop complaining.

Just a guess. I bet the problem bog is more evident on 03up cause of the TBW.

Absolutely. Once it gets hot out around here, my car is a complete dog. Why they went TWB when a good ol' throttle cable has worked fine for years, I'll never know. Well, I know..just sayin'.

Just to be the devil's advocate here...

Do you think everyone who bought the 00-02 LS's should have had Lincoln recalling their car so they could add the VVT?

Or perhaps everyone who buys a computer should get a new one every year when improved models come out.

See where I'm going with this? You purchased a product; when that product is improved later on down the road... you are not entitled to and updated version, or the parts to update yours. This is almost always the way it works in a capitalist, free enterprise country such as ours.
