I've been told by several people on this forum that you can tuck the outer flap into the crease. I've been meaning to do it but it's been too hot.

yes, it's hot here, also, 96 that's the best ideal yet, , i was thinking of some kind of glue, but didn't want to get it on the paint, thanks :L

AFAIK, you can only get the seal with the glass. You run into a problem with the glass potentially breaking when removing it. Last time I checked the mitchel glass book, the rear glass/seal assy was $3,750. I'm just hoping I piss someone off enough to throw a brick at my back window. (0 deduct on comprehensive).

I have also seen people trim the seal off with an x-acto knife.

AFAIF, (had to look that one up, lol)
there's no way would i pay that ($3700)unless the glass is in the back in a million pieces, lol, hell didn't pay that much for the car, 95 black with new air rides installed, anyway thanks 94m5, i may go with the silicone.

I trimmed mine with XActo knife. Doesn't look to shabby if I may say so.

When I called around to see how much it would be to replace rear window, I got $1900 because the rear window is encapsulated, so the window and seal must be replaced.

I have tried to tuck mine in Pass side was a nice 5 min job went in easy.. Drivers side was a bitch and keeps trying to pot out... Can't seem to get the top dirvers side to go in...

The guy who put my windshield in told me to trim it as the piece has absolutly no practica funtion and will not cause any leaking.

I know 94m5 is looking into some kind of mode for this to either replace or cover up this problem.

Good Luck.

Regardless of the price, even if you DID replace the old one with a brand spanking new one, I'm not aware that in post-production Ford added ANY magical anti-lasagna ingredients to the original plastic recipe -- meaning another few years down the road, your back seal will STILL look like a stretched-out sea of you-know-what lips.

Good point. Could use that same argument in favor of coil conversion.
