Bad coil or coils?

Cool. Really have choice but to drive it, keep my fingers crossed and see. Thanks for the help again.

I would not suspect the cops and plugs to cause your problem. A total shutdown is loss of fuel, electrical or vacuum. At 100k miles, I would look at fuel pump, fuel filter, if no charging light is on. if the charging lights come on then battery bad or alt going bad. The IAC valve on the 01V6 regulates the idle. find the system that controls the idle on your engine. Also check for plugged air filter. Search for vacuum leaks, it may be a cracked vacuum line that only opens when engine is very hot.

I promise you that a dirty MAF can cause a "total shutdown" as well. Been there, done that.
If the PCM doesn't think there's any air going in, it won't inject any fuel.

well there have been a couple of people that couldn't get their car to run right at all, took the MAF out and there was a bug on the wire was the only problem...

so I'd say that it is a possibility that could be all that's wrong.

This happened to me as well - cleaned a small bug off the MAF wire and voila, the car was cured!
