Battery Question

Recently had 2003 LS in shop for PCM issue. After looking everything over the dealer informed me the PCM needed reflash caused by a bad cell in the battery. Authorized dealer to install new battery on there word but requested old battery be saved since it was less than a year old. Battery was a bosch aftermarket that I installed in factory location with adapter for vent tube in the trunk. Paid the core deposit and went to get the battery tested before I raised hell at Pepboys over the bad battery. Auto Zone checked battery and Pepboys. Both places stated battery is 100% good.

Is there a way to test for a bad cell as dealer stated or would battery come up less then 100% Both places tested CCA and came in over batteries stated level. Before I send email to Lincoln dealer where car was serviced am I missing something. I think dealer replaced battery just to pad bill or for simple fact that it was not a Motorcraft product. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.:shifty::shifty:

They probably did blame/replace the battery just because it wasn't the OEM part. (In their defense, the LS seems to be overly picky about this stuff.)
I really don't see what you have to gain by complaining about it. Find some other use for the non-OEM battery or try to sell it.
You need to stay on friendly terms with the dealer. Your original problem might come back, and if it does you will want to try and talk them into cutting you a break on the bill since they got it wrong the first time.

My original thought on allowing them to do everything they needed to do. I actually questioned the battery thing when they diagnosed the problem and was assured the battery had a bad cell. Battery was only 11 months old and I told them the problem started before battery was installed. They insisted that was part of the problem so I told them to go ahead, but to save the old battery. Not looking to piss anyone off, but I do live in an area where there are over 3 dealerships with in 5 miles and they all compete over work. I am not particulary found of any place but go when I have exhausted all other options. May just send an email to service department and see what they have to say. May decide how to proceed based on the feedback I recieve from them.
