[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Well Hotties, you all laughed at me 2 years ago when I told you how much the modifications I was getting would cost me.....if the price I paid would have meant I was getting good work, I wouldn't have minded the jabs...but alas, I was foiled...well screwed by Mike Ward Performance Racing in Pataskala OH. I am posting this in hopes that someone will do a google and find this thread before they give this shop anymoney or even worse, put their auto in this shop:

I had Mike Ward Performance (MWP)order and install: performance rotors, posi traction unit and 410 gears approx. 2 years ago on my 96 Lincoln Mark VIII. The posi unit had to be replaced (which MWP did, but I had to tell him about it), the psger. side caliper top bolt fell off while I was on the freeway, again had to fix, told MWP denied responsibility, 1 yr into gears I took back to MWP due to a sound I kept hearing he couldn't find anything approx. 1 yr later rear gears seize due to ring bolts FALLING OUT and grinding in gears. MWP told me it was the way I drive, & told me repair would be about 600.00 (probably be more, always was with initial work). Performance parts are meant to perform, but to make sure I called 5 local shops, all agreed that the only way ring bolts could have fell out were due to improper install. Took it to different shop and they have told me that not only was it installed wrong, he used wrong parts. Feel free to contact me if you have questions (lositnow@aol.com). I am only presenting the facts, MWPs response to everything that was wrong and what other professionals said. I have also let JEGS know just because a shop buys a lot of merchandise does not mean they are capable of installing it and that JEGS needs to know more about the shops they recommending. Even the manager at JEGS (Josh) on Main St in Reynoldsburg said the ring bolts should not have fallen out. Due to my ignorance, not checking MWP out, I got sucked out of 5,000.00. I know another who paid him 40,000+. to build a race car, not only do they not have a racecar, MWP LOST $12,000 worth of parts. The worst part is I've been driving my baby hard with bad gears and bad brakes....I feel like I handed my child to a pedophile to be molested, paid 5 grand for it and now I will have to pay another 1,000 to make my Mark VIII right again.

Regretfully,

MsM8

Wow....that just blows.

Does this loser have a web site, the links just take me to AOL mail.
If I was in the area I would pay him a little vist.

go to the better buiseness burough and list him as a bad buisness. deff get the word out.

yup that is my next step catmech, I've spent the last hour joining websites to post...sucks but I dont want anyone to have to go thru what I have and my bro in law....40 g's man!!!!!

ford nut, sorry I don't know why there were links I edited them out. You know what they say, what goes around comes around. I just want to make sure anyone who is considering that shop has the facts. I know I took a chance putting my email out there, but I want people to be aware!

funny he HAD a website, but it is no longer registered...go figure

here ya go catmech...filed it before my edit time ran up:
Thank you for using the Better Business Bureau's Online Complaint System.
Your complaint has been assigned case # 70060270.

BAD shops always end up blaming the customer. Take 'em to town. Better Business Bureau, lawsuit, word of mouth etc. No excuse for their crap workmanship. Think I'll end up doing my own gears...

You go girl! Then when your done with that, SET HIS SHOP ON FIRE;) HA HA! Just my .02 cents! I'll stop now!

youd be better off. if shyt happens no to blame but yourself lol. just make sure you get the teeth pattern correct and your pinion preload correct.

I would if I had one of you Hotties close by to lend your help and advice! But gears for a novice...is kinda daunting.

in my experience there is only one way to learn. that is to do it. if you have a manual it should tell you the pinion preload and the run out readings you want. as far as gear pattern, i always set the pattern just a hair tho the outside. that way when the gears are under heavy load(hard to moderate acceleration) the gears mesh directly in the center. the place where you purchase the gear set from should also offer some specs to follow if you ask them.

Sorry to hear about that. Maybe you can write a letter to the editor of your local paper, or even call the local news and see if they will let you do a "consumer report" type of thing on the news. That would really get the word out.

If I still lived in Marrietta I would come give you a hand.

catmech...I agree I learn best by doing...u give me way to much credit! I have limited tools, limited space and limited time, but I would make the time if I had a tutor!!

Thanks for the sweet offer Chadly ;)

Thanks Geno - Im on my way!

SMOOCHES HOTTIES!!!

how are they going to tell you its the way you drive? whats the point of buying performance parts if you cant drive the hell out of it?

Although lawyers always get a bad rap, this is exactly the reason why I'm going to school to be a corporate lawyer! I want to fight against companies like this, not work for them! Had this happened to you a few years from now when I am finished with school I would have taken that guy for one hell of a ride for defrauding you of your money like that.

My advice to you is to take him to small claims court yourself. A judge would sympathize with you as the consumer and you can easily prove your case.

If you get to a point that you're serious about taking him to court pm me and I'll look up some statutes for you. I just nailed a company to the wall for something they did to my Mustang. It's sad to see honest trustworthy consumers get screwed out of their money by scam artists that took them for a ride.

Sorry for your loss bro..... :(

interesting website Geno - thanks! Now to get my bro in law to do the same!

I agree stlunatic, and that is what I told Mike Ward Racing, of course he had a bs answer to give me.

Mike Wards Racing's wife/receptionist flat out told me "You are wrong, Mike Ward installed the gears correctly." I told her, I'm not giving you my opinion, I'm telling you what I have been told by 5 professional shops, so you are telling me they are all wrong...including JEGS! Then I said, wheres my bro- in laws car? Well lets just say that kinda set her off, like they thought I wouldn't know about how they screwed him!

Sorry to keep saying the full Mike Ward Racing, but I want to make sure when someone googles the name, they find the truth.

I'd also like to say thank you all for your information and support, I knew there was something wrong, LVC's Hotties confirmed it for me!

Wanna hear another weird tidbit, right after I got the work done, (2 yrs ago), I noticed the temp gauge now rested on the top of the A and on long trips would go to M and slightly above - weirdest thing I noticed was the heat in/from the console, if you touched the radio you would think the insides were melting it was hot as all get out!!! Immediately after J & J Auto Glass & Service did the bolts and changed the fluid (driving of course) the temp went back to right where it was 2yrs ago, on the line in the A and the radio cooled off and has stayed cool since. I've also gotten 2 more miles to the gallon!

I thought it had something to do with the driveshaft and trannie. MarkedMan confirmed that for me. He told me: The center console was hot cause he probrobly over tightened the gears which made the tranny work overtime to spin the drive shaft thus hot console.

SMOOCHES!!!!! I LOVE MY LVC!!!!!

Hey a new LVCer! Hi ripped camel. ;) I didn't think I could take him to court case it has been 2 years...go ahead send me all the ammo you have! Thanks!

Gosh Debi, sorry to hear all that.

If you can get affidavits from these other shops stating their opinions, and if you can salvage the bad parts, you could take him to small claims court. Check on your statute of limitations though.

I sued and defeated Valvoline Instant Oil Change for screwing my oil filter on wrong and leaking out all my oil, ruining the engine on a Chevy I owned years ago. I had the filter and a statement from a shop.

PM me your state so I can figure out what your statute of limitations is. What was the initial install date, and when was the last time they physically worked on your car?

That is what I was thinking...

Sucks Debi... get it fixed right!

Dishonest shops prey on the people who don't know.
What Deb payed is your first clue what a scum bag the clown is.

She didn't know so he gave it too her good.
Before my babe met me she payed $1,600 to have a catalytic converter installed.
She didn't know better.
I can't stand shops like that.

Definitely hit up the BBB. I used them and they were very efficient, Dell was calling ME trying to resolve my computer issue.

shops like this?:
