Well I bought some wheels from a member that were descibed as "They are in excelent condition. One rim has slight curbage" to be exact. Only two have arrived so far.
Both of which are bent on the inside and outside of the rim and both have literally dozens of chips around the edges. I will give him the benefit of the doubt and hope he insured something so valuable so I will not say who it is yet.
However, he has chosen not to accept P.M.'s as of today- the day he told me they would arrive. Sounds a little funny to me. Anyone have any ideas of what I can do?

If who I bought these from reads this, P.M. me to get this resolved.

Give him a chance

Maybe the rims were damaged in shipping. Were they packaged correctly? Give him a day or two to respond.

Did you pay with a money order or through a service like Paypal?

Yes I saw pictures. I saw the "curbage" and bought them knowing it was only on one wheel and the extent of it.
Yes, I used Paypal.
And no I do not think they were packaged correctly. There was a blanket folded on top of the wheels which were stacked on top of each other-with a piece of cardboard in between them. The package was unopened. It was sent from NY to Ohio apparently like that.
I am very, very, very sad to say the least.

Proper packaging is a liability that falls upon the seller. This is the exact reason why I build wooden crates and anchor the items inside when shipping high value and/or delicate items that could be damaged in transit. It is too bad this happened to you. Best of luck getting it resolved.

If they are useless to you, talk to Paypal about getting your money back. If they find in your favor, they will suck as much money out of the person's bank account until you are repaid.

I ran into an issue with a seller using PayPal on a Non-Ebay item. I sent the seller money for a part through PayPal and he sent me a part that wasnt what I asked for. The seller then refused to refund my money or take the part back. PayPal wouldnt do anything about it since I didnt buy the part through an Ebay auction and I got screwed. You have to be VERY careful buying or selling things outside of Ebay. I will never do it again.

I didn't know you could choose not to receive pm's. I know sometimes my inbox will fill up once i have 100 messages, and subsequent messages won't be received. Just giving the guy the benefit of the doubt...

You should know that PayPal can or will do nothing even if you buy through eBay when the seller has no money in his account. That is why I always pay through PayPal with a credit card. The card company will charge back PayPal and they are left with going after the seller.

That's what I do. i use my credit card and let Paypal deal with the seller on their own.

yea. i got struck by that once. filed the complain. son of a whore that took my money and ran online had no money in their account so i got .25 back and a "tough titties" message from paypal. oh and paypal charges a fee to get your money back from a deadbeat seller. double middle finger.

Man, I have lost faith in the system. Although if done correctly, will work, but come on.. does everything have to be a scam. I hate people like this. All these stories make me think its going to get even worse for potential buyers. If I have something to sell, I'll put in ebay for BuyItNow. and raise the price a couple bucks to cover expenses of ebay transaction fees. 5 extra dollars is a small price compared to the headache and uneasy feelings you get dealing with forum-sales.

Best of luck to you.

I agree, with pretty much everyone. I will keep everyone in the know as things develop.

If I end up stuck with these rims, will bends in the rim affect my driving?

Let's see what happens. LvC has been in the past a community of members who take very good care of each other.

Once in a great while we have had a few deals between member go sour. Let's hope that's not the case here.

I hope the seller in this case will act in a mature manner and resovle this issue.

Members Please remember this is not a community of strangers, this is LvC a communty of friends.. Let's keep it that way.

Wheel Repairs

There's an outfit called WeldCraft that specializes in wheel repairs. 734 420 2211 I've dealt with them for 25 years. They built the roll cage in my LS---see 'Land Speed LS' in the HP section for pictures.

If you paid with a credit card, contact your financial provider. As long as its within 60 days of the transaction you can claim fraudulant activity on the account and have the charges reversed.

You should only claim fraud when there has been an unauthorized purchase on your account. In this case you just contest the charges and state your case. The credit card company will attempt to contact the seller and resolve the issue. If the seller does not respond, you will get your money back.

Well, yes, I could have worded it better, though what you said is exactly what I meant, and its worked before for me.

By the way, my advice? Don't mess around with this. I'd give the seller a week - tops - to respond, then I'd press forward with contacting your financial institution.

Not in every case. I have a Chase Platinum card and they wouldnt even deal with the charge. They said PayPal has to deal with all PayPal issues. Not even Chase was able to override them.

My Amex would deal with it no questions asked, even the basic blue card had impressive benefits.

My Discover card and Chase Visa card have both charged back PayPal when the vendor did not satisfy their questions. Have not had to try with my Chase MasterCard though. The silly part is that even after you file a dispute with PayPal and they find in your favor, you have to do it again when you ask for your money back after filing the dispute with your credit card. In other words, PayPal wants to go through the 10 day process twice. That is why I do not mess with PayPal at all. Their guarantee is worthless.
