Beat an LS-1 today with stock mk8 :)

Thanks to my broken TPS, i idle at 2500+rpm, and when i let off the breaks, i spin tires, and when i step on the gas....i beat semi modded LS-1's :)

on the way to take her to the shop, some jerkoff in an ls1 camaro decided it would be a good idea to try to race me....i guess not.
 
Dude I think it was a V6 with badging. There is no way in he ll that you could beat a LS1 with a stock Mark. My cousin had one and I raced him the very first night I ever went 14.60@97mph at Atco, he went 13.88 spinning the tires and all he had was an exhaust.

:iconcur: I watch Horsepower TV on Spike TV on the weekend, They brought in a 98 Camaro Z-28 LS1. They dynoed the car before their mods, and it read 300+ hp
 
MrWilson you're one funny dude. I look cross eyed at almost every post you make. You really think a Mark 8 can beat any LS1 car?
 
all i know is it had an LS1 painted on the bottom of the door, like the IROC used to be....but your prolly right, it woulda had to be a v6 or mabey an lt1. But i tell ya, i was spinnin tires when i let off the break with that Throttle positioning sensor outa wack.
 
even an LT1 would rip you a hole. I raced a friend of mine's 93 formula and he had 3 cars on me through first.

Lt1's are MONSTERS down low, and will still handle a mark up top. The LS1 would have handed your Ass to you from a standstill, and top end also. That 3rd gear pull out on the highway is AWESOME.

It was either a v-6, or the guy was'nt racing,(you just mistook it) :)
 
Congradulations Mr. Wilson, if you said you beat a LS1, then you beat it.. No one else was there but you.. So Thanks for KICKIN some A$$ and takin name for the LvC!!!
 
lol, well, i dont know what happened anymore....im confused. it was definatly a race, cuz he was trying to get infront of me at one of them lights where you got 3 lanes on one sode of the light, and 2 on the other. but, i realy feel silly if it was some riceboy in a v6 hehe. it sounded like a v8, but them camaro v6's do sound like v8's sometimes. so w/e
 
a bad driver can give yu a win no matter what car they're in........ might have really been an LS1, with a 6 speed and sum kid who cant drive stick lol. it happens. I have hung with a few stock LT1's though myself . And the older 3rd gen camaros are a joke against a mark viii, and i know this cuz i owned a few. Either way, a wins and win.
 
v6 hell you would know, I race alot and I raced a 2000 v6 camaro and man I didnt even have to floor it and I beat the punk ass by hella lot but i think he gave up after i blew his doors off.
 
I know they put vette engines in those old ss impala's......i bet we could take them...

better yet, they but em in the buick roadmasters too...they were sleepers and a half

*Slams head on the desk* "vette engines" :) As a former 4th gen Z28 owner, I can tell you that they get tired of hearing "hey that things got one of them Vette engines in em." Not ragging on ya, just giving a heads up.

And those impy's are'nt to be taken lightly, anything you can do to a Z28/Trans Am/Vette, you can do to them.
 
Sorry if i offended your chevy side. when i hear ls1...i think vette 1st. I certainly don't take those ss's lightly...I've driven one......they are fun....I was just trying to give this thread some hope for our mark's taking one of those "vette" engines....(I did it again)......haha

the one to realy be affraid of, is the joker who surprises the S outa everyone, and takes grandmas Buick roadmaster to the shop, gets a shift kit in there, burns the chip to change the shift points, and smokes your face off at the light. Be weary of them, theres a nasty one arround here. I think hes running 14.5's basicly stock.
 
well im running 14.4 and if i get a chip i should be doing hella better because I got a nasty a/f ratio
 
ok not that I'm the biggest expert in the world on these cars, but my last 2 cars before this Mark VIII was a 1997 T/A with the LT1 engine and my last one was a 99 T/A with an LS1 in it. Now there is a huge difference in speed btwn my LS1 and LT1. My LS1 would run 13.4's bone stock and my LT1 had tons of mods on it and only ran a personal best of 14.2. I could see you getting close to an LT1 stock for stock, but my 99 LS1 could not be touched by anything on the road except the very high priced sportscars like a porshe 911 turbo and once got beat by a AMG, but that's the only 2 cars that ever even came close to me besides the same engined cars and Me like the LS1 z28's and T/A's. That car was crazy fast! It would turn sideways on a second gear scratch with the traction control on. But it also cost me $400/month in car payments :)
