Best battery for 2000 Lincoln LS

what are the "bonuses" of a yellow top over factory... ? (sound system wise)

Figured I should grab a new one for piece of mind, quoted $153 (CDN) from the Ford dealer and $180 from Interstate. Everywhere else doesn't even carry a replacement checked C.Tire, Walmart, etc.

Specifically because of the venting.

Go to the Lincoln dealer. $109.00

Just installed same one this morning.

Got to thinking though, don't know how long it's been sitting on the dealership shelf as I wouldn't expect it to be a fast mover. Might put it on the trickle charger overnight anyway or is that overkill?

I was pretty close to just buying an unvented one but for the extra ~$60 or so I'll have some piece of mind without worrying about my trunk blowing up..

I thought there would be a date code like my original battery, but the closest I can see (to what might be a month/year sticker) is a s/n of 041612 on the main spec sticker. Which could mean April 16 2012

Lets put it a different way, even knowing the date I don't know what sort of shelf life these batteries have.

I'll throw it on the trickle charger anyway since my alternator could have been under some additional strain for a while with the original.

Good news is I found the block heater cord in the spare tire well while I was poking around :)

yup the Canadian Build versions of the LS's were provided with coolant heaters, plug in at the lower grille plus an extension cord in the trunk.

I am fairly certain they use a stock photo of this "type" of battery no matter what vehicle you select on the website. Who knows, they may have a vent tube on this one since I selected a 2006 LS, probably something you'd have to call about.

However, it probably doesn't. Those batteries are nuts though they use em' in the fire trucks and ambulances around here.

Older thread... but I just replaced my battery today with:

Interstate Batteries Megatron-Plus Part# MTP-66
750 CCA, Vented, 30 Month Free Replacement, 6 Year Warranty: Retail $152.95, List $182.95

I got it for $129.99 plus tax at Firestone (they had to order it, only took 2 hours to get it).

I have always had good luck with Interstate Batteries.

I just called my local Lincoln dealer, they carry the Motorcraft for $109 also.

I still prefer Interstate Batteries... but that Motorcraft is a great price with a better warranty for $20 less, had I known...
