Best oil to use

I use Walmarts SuperTech full synthetic w/ a fram filter. Sike na jp. I use whatever full synthetic my job has-was pennzoil, now its gon be Quaker Q Horsepower synthetic

I use Royal Purple, 5W-20 (as per the Owners manual), a K&N oil filter and change the oil every 10K miles; or two cycles of the oil change warning message.

Me too.. RP with the K&N filter.. I think I will change at 6k though..

I used Royal Purple the first three years and now I'm using Amsoil 0W-30 with Wix filter.

Wix is a pretty good filter but why wouldn't you use a better one with that expensive of oil?.. Just curious..

That's what Amsoil sell on their site and that's what they recommended for the LS out of the ones they sold.

i use Q horsepower when I can find it, and it seems to run better than when I ran mobil 1.. but its impossible to reall tell since it always just feels better when oil gets changed.

well see here mr. leo....if you read my post...looks like i pretty much answered his question...only ones complaining are the ones with soft little p*ssy lips where there d*cks are supposed to be...in this case... you....i never done anything without asking some research first...then if all else fails, i will post a question or maybe ask in the real world, as this is not the only place to get general car advice. seein as dkgator should have a competent friend out in the real non-internet world, it amazes me that he would not know whether to use synthetic or non synthetic on a complicated 3.9 jaguar aj high compression v8 with a 2 stage valve timing system. i dunno but...sounds like he shud use synthetic for sure? now im not gonna get into the whole issue on synthetic vs non synthetic, cuz thats been argued over n over since its inception....either way....f*ck you... and may i ask y u wud sue castrol as opposed to just using it....

Someday when you grow up, you will realize what an A$$ you've been.

I use Royal Purple, 5W-20 (as per the Owners manual), a K&N oil filter and change the oil every 10K miles; or two cycles of the oil change warning message. As my wife drives her LS very little, I change that oil every message. They are both '06s, BTW.

On my daughter's LS I changed the oil every 10K miles (with RP) for the 155K miles since the dealer freebies expired. As she doesn't drive much either I change her LSes oil when I change my wife's. So far that's about once a year. I would only use this regime with a fully synthetic oil. Remember the early days of Mobil1's claims of once a year or 25K mile oil changes?

Thanks, appreciate the "adult" answer since there seems to be a couple of real $h1theads out there.

Yea.. I you have to take it with a grain of salt on here. There is a lot of BS that goes on. And as long as it isn't you, it's funny as sh!t.. :D

yea its too bad the adult doesnt even kno sh*t about the car he's driving...but what do i kno im just a kid right...any adult would have found out or have some knowledge about the car...at least the proper maintenance before hand...thats like buying a ferrari cuz it looks nice but not knowing about the 3000 dollar oil change...

I'm sorry (to keep this argument going), but I don't see how you can make the leap that the OP doesn't know anything about his car or its maintenance from his question of "What is the best oil to use to preserve the engine life and also to realize a jump in mpg? Regular vs synthetic? I've got an 06 LS with 32K and want to make sure it stays that way. "
It really seems like a reasonable question to ask. It's looking for opinions and experiences more than anything else.

If you can afford a Ferrari, you don't care that it costs $3000 for an oil change.

i understand what ur saying about asking a question asking opinions and experiences...but its still a general question about cars as opposed to a specific question about the ls...if it was at least a quesiton about preffered intake models for the ls or even another thread about the exhaust even tho we cover that quesiton about 5 times a week, but no it was about oil...which for most newer cars makes sense to just use synthetics...i mean...i kno some drag cars use regular oil because they only change the oil for that particular event...so it doesnt make sense to run a synthetic...even tho there definitely is a reason to run it even for the quarter mile but...you get what im sayin...i kno not everyone is going to give a crap about cars but i believe its in everyone's best interest to know a little sunthin, even if its to know just enought o not get raped at a pepboys or autozone or sunthin....

and i kno sum of u wont agree and blah blah i was bein an a$$ but f*ck you who cares...at least i kno my oils!!!

not true...my boy has done a couple things to get him enough money to buy a ferrari...not sure what model but...he lives in his parents basement and makes six digits a year...but i kno for a fact he doesnt have enough money to maintain it...barely has enough to maintain the porsche that sittin in his garage all f*cked up...

I belive the official saying is, "you don't buy a Ferrari when you can afford one. You buy a Ferrari when you can afford five."

You "kno" your oils...and yet spelling does not just allude you, it can walk right past you and you would not recognize it.

well after seeing your improper usage of the word allude, and assuming you meant to use the word elude, i'd say your grammar is on par with op's knowledge of automobiles. well what do you know, this thread ultimately led to my introduction to an even bigger idiot, personified in this case, by none other then you...:p

to stay on topic: I would use motor oil. I tried vegetable oil in my old beater car, with less than stellar results.

Dont forget to flush your oiling system with the trusty ol' garden hose..

been using Walmart's brand of full synthetic 5w-30 and fram filters since new. Now at 125k and running as smooth as it ever has. 2002 V8 purchased with 4 miles on the odometer

Yep, I mis-typed one word. Learn what "personified" means you hypocritical mook.
