im getting my grandfathers mark8 when im 16(febuary)i was wondering what the best way to get 12s is
ps is 12s street legal i thinks mid 10s is but not sure all input would be greatly thxed
pss plz under 7-8grand

Street legal has nothing to do with how quick a car is... well, maybe in some of the yonder East coast communist states and in California... Street legal refers to operating headlights, windshield wipers and some other such nonsense.

Spend $500 of that 7-8 grand on some writing lessons. Sentence structure and punctuation rule. No one's going to take you seriously with your current writing skillZ, y0!

I love your replies Frogman...

So you turning 16, never owned a car and are headed straight for the 12's? Get real kid, cars just aren't something you learn in a day or two. I suggest you get the car and focus on tuning it up, learning to drive, and avoid crashing it for at least 6 months before you do any performance mods.

I agree... your still very young.

With that beeing said, I like this Kid. I must admit, at 16, I wanted a fast car and a hot girl.

Now that I'm 42, I have a fast car...

hmm, i am having flashbacks to the M5 board were the 16yr old killed him and his friends when he wrecked his dads brand new M5

First car

Hell my first car was a 70 429CJ Torino at 16, it was not a 12 second car, but it was close. Then again my father raced pro street his entire life and I grew up at the strip. I dont know if I would throw a 16 year old new driver behind the wheel of a 12 second car.
PS it will take a bit of knowledge and money to get 12's out of the Mark, My wife's run low 13's and Ive got over 3K in it now, it is normally aspirated.

Ok. I got my mark when I was 18, I just turned 20 last week. You're making the older Mark owners think lowly of young owners like myself. My 2 cents;

A) Learn to type before you come on here, because NO ONE will take you seriously and everyone will jump all over you for it.

B) 12 seconds is tough, here's a look at what it'll take, read it all. http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=38923&highlight=mark+in+magazine

C) Just based on your first post I'd have to tell you to sell the Mark and buy a Civic or something along those lines, CuZ ThEy BeE Da BOmB WIf AlL DaT NaWwWz AnD 7.5" PisToNs and TRICHARGERS!

D) And if you had the Mark now would you really even bother taking it to the track? Or want to brag to your friends about your 12 second car?

E) Read. I read on this site for months before I even registered. Just so that when I made my first post I wouldn't make myself look as stupid as you just did.

F) 7-8 grand? If you have that kind of money to throw at a car at 16, theres something wrong.

Oh and tda13; I got the fast car and hot girl. w00t w00t

Sorry to be rude but someone had/was going to say it.

Oh man a 16 year old in a Mark with nitrous!

I can see the Mark wrapped around a telephone pole now

It won’t be wrapped around a telephone pole if he puts on nitrous, but it will have a blown motor, and not in the forced induction way.

I was 16 or 17 when I got my Mark VIII, and I don't see the point in having a 12 second car at that age. The Mark VIII is fast enough.

Get real! Wow, You know some of us have been driving 12 second and faster cars since we were old enough to drive. I had a 11 second car when i was only 18. and I'm 27 now and look at my sig its full of fast :q:q:q:q.

So just because he is a kid that means he will blow it up. If it is installed correctly and tuned right it he shouldn't have a problem with it.......other then traction

First, learn how the car handles and drives. Your turning 16 and have no driving exp, this pisses me off. Reminds me of how my two best friends died, Here in NJ 17 year old drivers have a 12 am curfew and this :q:q:q:q:q:q:q who was only driving for a week was flying down a side street speed limit of 25, he was going 90 mph in his 00 vet to get home for his curfew... and only was driving for a :q:q:q:qing week, my friends was making a left from a stop sign and this mother:q:q:q:qer came flying to their car, flipped it twice and they both bleed out on the spot...and this 17 year old :q:q:q:q:q:q:q walked away with a hurt leg.: So my advice is learn how to :q:q:q:qing drive before driving anything fast.. Personally I think a mark viii is to fast for a beginners car.. Be SAFE first... :(

I was driving fast cars at 15-16 years old they weren't mine but I got to drive them some times there weren't 12s but 13s and I didn't crash. Not all 16 year old kids are dumb I was driving seance I was 12 or 13 My first accident at 17 was a man in his 50s running a red light. Old people shouldn't drive then but then again his first post was retarded

i think its good to see younger people interested in the mark viii- i'm 24 and pretty much every body that i know thinks that my car is the ugliest thing on 4 wheels and wonders why i like it so much.

My advice would be to get the car and drive it around/ tune it up before you think of doing anything. I got my car from an old person and boyyyy did it need some stuff done- i dont think it was ever revved out over 2K rpm! You dont want to do a bunch of mods on a platform thats not ready for it. After the car is up to snuff, I'd start with having the trans looked at and doing a jmod/ any other work that needs to be done with it, fuel pump, do some gears and a posi, then a trans cooler. Basically any other big mods would require this work done to best use any power adders you might decide on.

Take it in strides... i think you'll be disappointed if you take a car thats been grandpa driven, bolt 8 grand worth of mods to it, then try to drive it daily.

Come on guys go easy on the kid, he is just excited about his first car. You all should be impressed that he wants a mark at all, there are so many other cars out there that are easier to mod much less get parts for. Harsh as all of you were to the kid you are all right, Firebard123 take your time fix whats wrong with your car first. The more you fix the better it will work, and in some cases some of those fixes will make it faster. Oh and one more thing, welcome to forum.

Well good for you, do you want a :q:q:q:qing award!

If you can say honestly that you paid for every dollar of those fast cars that you got to drive when you were 16 I will shut up. I wasn't handed a car, and was lucky to be allowed to drive my parents Taurus. I've worked my ass of to afford the car I have and have learned what it takes to go fast, and more importantly what it costs.

gee, aren't you glad you asked?

real friendly, non-judgmental people here, all are (sometimes) welcome. Just grow up, get a degree in English lit so that you meet the minimum requirements of the highly educated masters of English prose. Enjoy your (brief) stay.

Ok u wants me to use sentence structure. (I messed up account and locked it out don’t feel like waiting)

Personally I think a mark viii is to fast for a beginner’s car.. Be SAFE first...
Ok the first thing sorry for your lost and, just because people have friends who go 90 mph in a 25 zone doesn’t mean every one will. Also I agree with Cbecker1994Vlll I don’t want to have a fast car when I am 42 have children and much more reasonability’s. The last note I would like to point out is that I do not have 7grand I want to work towards to the 12s all I have is a 100k miles mark 8 and, for the installation and tuning I have a friend who know how to tune ford dohc engines of the period
jeff thank you for the advice i was thinking of getting a new fuel pump its also acculy just been sitting sence my grandpa went legaly blind

ps i dident know that i had to cross my t and dot my i's
and thxs to the people who helped
