Best year for the Mark VIII Engine?

The compression is 9.85 in all of them...

That's what I thought, too. It's just that when Googling for information, you get 3 different ratios.

I'm sure it's just bad info on their part.....

Thanks. So if I happen to get the engine out of a first gen Mark could I use a 96+ Mark computer and wiring harness and it will work or Do I need the whole package? It will be a easier find a engine if I can get one out of which ever gen of mark 8 I find.

The computer only matters on what sensors you plan on using. You could stick with your computer but have it tuned for the engine. I'm not sure if you could just swap out the computers in the car like that because I'm not sure what else they control.
