Hey, what up! It's my first post, thank you for being here. you all have helped me a lot. I have hid in the shadows on here and learned about my LS for a while now.

I'm in the middle of fixing an issue with my blower motor and it seems my blower control module is on the fritz also. I have used the fourm to diagnose my issues but now I have a question.

To start,

My blower motor was not functioning one day I had no air flow from the vents but the A/C was fine and could feel cold A/C air in the vents, it was that the blower motor was not functioning.

So I tear into it and pull out a fried blower motor five minutes later. I'm like cool, that was easy. I replace the motor. The blower is functioning again but on full blast with no varying in speed control for the blower motor.

My question is this.

I can see the control module and unscrew the one screw holding it in. It's next to the blower motor. How do you wiggle the damn thing out without tearing into the whole cooling A/C system?? There has to be a way without doing all this hard core removing of coolant ect, see example...

Anyone who has delt with, and or done this on your own and have any tips, advice from your experience will be greatly appreciated. Am I correct in diagnosing the blower control module vs the DCCV as I know this is a similar associated issue? I do not believe it to be the DCCV as my problem at this time.

Thank you,
Matt.

Your diagnosis is almost certainly correct. It is most likely that the "fried" blower motor overloaded the power transistor in the speed control and it has failed by shorting internally.

Fortunately, I haven't had to replace one of these. The one person that I ever talked to who has, did have to go the whole nine yards and pull everything out. Sorry...

Update...problem solved!

It's been a while since I did this repair. I wan to say that if you are diligent enough and loosen as much as you can in regards to the ducts you can get the blower control out and new one in without having to tear into the coolant system. I ended having to shim the plastic with a small pry but did manage to get the job done. It was a pain in the arse though!!

I have an 01 LS

is this also the same procedure for an 01 because i have the same problem
