Boost Info

i dont do the installs.. i dont pretend to do them either... as far as answering phones or returning calls... all i can say is im sorry... i just posted here to say glad you somewhat figured it out.. i wish had a few guys helping me, but dependable people are hard to find... i am quite overwhelmed alot of the time.

good luck!

I went with a generic one on Ebay. They are such simple pieces; no need to spend too much on them. I'll post a pic when I get it.

Yeah... Let me know when you figure out whats wrong with the AEM unit. I really was wanting to get one. Looks really clean.

the aem one works GREAT! As i stated earlier in the post, i tuned 4 twin cars in the last few weeks that had it... every single one held where it should.. Some of these cars were 20+psi rides and others were 15psi.. email me with any questions about it.

thanks bob

So is this going to say that doing a turbo on the LS might still not work?

I will be posting the results...at this point it is the only thing we can point to(AEM boost controller) I have read plenty of good things about them online and maybe this one is bad; but that is yet to be determined.

What brought it to my attention was the fact that they cant pin point whether its the controller or not since they all have seemed to work fine on other cars. Thats all.

I thought so far only one person had a turbo LS and was still making some critical adjustments?

I thought others were still in the planing out phase.

My setup is almost done... I just have to wire the oil pump and Im good to go. Ill have a WHOLE wright-up soon.

Manual boost controller has arrived as well as the gauge. I am scheduled to go back to the shop Thursday...hopefully with good results.
The car pulls like a freight train on the expressway...60-120mph happend very quickly.

Hehehe what? Mine works just fine and makes full boost in any gear without issue while on the street. Don't jump to any hasty conclusions here. Any finalizations for my turbo LS are in the tune alone, nothing to do with the hardware. The tune is more or less done too, though I do want to play with the spark advance a little more as well as finetune the trans shifting for my preference with the turbo. Though you may not be reading about it in magazines and I may have not had the time to throw it up on the dyno I can assure you it works VERY well and is a solidly designed and built system both in my car and in Steve's also.

I never jumped to any conclusions and am happy to hear that but I am going only by what I have read. Thats all:) .

As far as the boost controller, the other guy seamed to be sure that his work along with the controller should not be of any concern so I figured with the very little I know about this that it is either the rare occurrence that Strapp got stuck with a bunk controller or something else could be wrong. Again that is only what I can understand because of what is available for me to read. I know no one personally so I wouldn't be able to say "hey, I know this guy and can say it works even though its not highly publicized". Just like you said, its not in magazines or in the news so what would I honestly know?

Thats really it, oh and it would be disappointing that if after getting this far it turned out that some issue would arise to cause this to not be possible. No offense was meant.

I understand that you meant no offense but a little faith would be nice. You may not know me or my work personally but I am sure that you have read what I have done with the LS on a multitude of levels and hopefully came to the conclusion that I probably know what I am doing with these cars. Thats all I am saying.

Also, turbo systems don't just "not work" on cars. Sometimes you may not be able to run as high of boost in a particular vehicle due to high compression, or other tuning neccessities but as for the turbo system just "not working" it is not really possible provided that the system is installed correctly. I am sure if you connected the turbo backwards then it would not work but it would take a huge moron to be able to screw up that bad. :D While turbocharging a vehicle isn't exactly simple it also isn't some form of voodoo magic either. I know you mean no hard feelings but I figured an explanation of why I responded to your last post was in order. ;)

I can see that you know what you are doing. I don't have a loss of faith, all I did was ask a question, not make a statement:)

out of curiousity at about what mileage are you installing these turbos at? i love the idea... but i think mines starting to reach the too late timeframe at around 77k..
funny thing is i've been followin STS for a long long time since they first came out and when i bought my LS I sent them an email in the first week about possible setups...
