So, I drove 600 miles to buy a Collectors Edition, my first Mark VIII. 79,000 miles on it for $3900. I had a Lincoln dealer do a complete check on it, including compression. The things I have found wrong are a few minor scratches, the cup holder is broke, very minor ripples in the rear window rubber, a small dent in the steering wheel, and a LOUD compressor. The headlights are clear and the taillight is bright with nothing visibly wrong with it. The air suspension works, and was not sunk down after 2 days of sitting. The blend door is working fine. The car drove home fine. No shimmy, no weird noises, and 23 mpg doing 78. I think I got a DEAL. I will post more pics after it gets a bath, Minnesota really loves rock salt on the roads.

The milage is bad. Maybe some new O2 sensors would take care of that.

CEs only have value for collectors. They really have no more value than other Mark VIIIs. But you still got a decent deal. Its a 98 so better trans.

I would have bought it and maybe paid even more.

i think 79k for a 98 is pretty damn good... thats 7k per year..

and #24 is a pretty good number to have... ive always found the lower the number on any collector car the more people seem to want it..

i see people still paying 3900 for 93's with 100k....

i say DDDDEEEEAALLLL !!!!

congrats! that the one from finish line ford, my buddy works there in parts/body shop. we were talking about it yesterday when he came back north. not a bad deal at all, and 23 mpg aint bad thats all mine ever did, ive squeaked 28 out of it once. new o2 and all

Does the onboard comp. give a message when it's time to replace O2 sensors?

I dont think thats the one from finish line ford chicken. It had 89k mi, and rockford isnt anywhere near 600mi from peoria

no turn on i just had 120k i think? when i did them

dunno i know its MI but maybe...........lets see....... its 329~ish one way, maybe he meant round trip. wasnt sure of the millage of the one at finish line.

No. They can throw a CE but not until they get pretty dang bad. I replaced mine at 90k I think. They are due every 60k. No CE but a huge improvement in power and economy.

It's nice to be able to datalog the short term fuel trim and then you can really see if the O2's are working or not.

It's not the one from Finishline. It's from a small dealer in Aberdeen,SD. He met me part way in Minneapolis. After a wash today there are a few more small body imperfections, but still nothing major. Here are a few pics:
