Box in front of radiator?

What is the box in front of the radiator in a 1994 Lincoln Mark VIII?
It has some wires plugged into it and is sitting in friont of the radiator a little to the right.

VCRM.... it runs the fans and the injectors and a whole bunch of other stuff.

The car stalled on me at a light
didnt start back up right away, but it did after a few tries..
drive for a few more minutes it seemed fine, but then check engine light came on and it died again, when i pulled over VCRM was smoking....
wont start anymore, any reason this happened?
It was lightly raining today..

I don't know , it just happened all of a sudden, how much does a vcrm costs?
Is there any chance anything else was hurt by this?
