Brake booster or vacuum leak ?

I think the brake booster on my 130k 93 mark8 has failed but before I replace it I thought I would ask for advice, the brake pedal has gotten very hard, brakes still work just takes alot more muscle, I also noticed the a/c vents are acting up, not just under braking but can't find any vacuum leaks. Is this a common problem? Anything else I should check or do before I replace booster?

Sounds more like an overall vacuum leak to me, but it could be a really bad booster.
If you unplug the vacuum line from the booster and cap it (the line), do the AC controls return to normal?

Your AC vent issue could be a broken blend door actuator.

Its definitely the brake booster, looks like a bear to get outta there, anyone here ever change a brake booster?
