Brake light intermettently coming on

On the way over to my friends house, I noticed the brake light on the dash illuminating when ever I'd come to a stop. Sometimes it wont do it, but it comes on most of the time. And no, the parking brake isn't engaged. I tried playing with the parking brake and pumping the pedal, but it does the same until i press the gas. The brakes work normal overall though.

Could be low brake fluid or an electrical problem.

Would it throw a code if I hook it up to a computer?

Possibly, if you have the right scan tool. I'd check your fluid first..

Fluid is at its max fill line. Nothing wrong there. I did notice that on occasion I do have a hard time stopping the car. The pedal feels somewhat stiff. I usually only experience this when the car is cold (cold start) but gets back to its normal self after a few braking cycles. I was told by a mechanic that my master cylinder could be going on its way out. Does it sound like an appropriate symptom?

Yeah or your brake booster. A competent mechanic should be able to test both, don't let them assume.

Well I looked back this morning at the resiviour, there is almost no fluid in there. There aren't any leaks under the car. So I guess it's leaking into the booster or some place.
