My mechanical lock does not work on my Mark. Where can I go to have it replaced?
 
By the way this is not my first post. I have been here for years as Doc1 but lost my email address when I sold my business. So I had to start over again.
 
Get a used lock mechanism thats located behind the actual lock cylinder. Takes 5 minutes to replace. Unless of course it is the cylinder. What exactly does it do?

Very true. He can put your old user name with a new email address. Also, I would suggest you visit your local JY for those parts you need. Should be a $10 fox or less, if you can fix it. Finding the lock cylinders can sometimes be hard because people snatch them up for resale or to replace their own with the faded one they have.

If your trunk is open and you push your trunk, do you hear the clicking sound? It is kinda rare for that part to go bad because it's not really something that gets used that often, for most anyway. I don't recall anyone on here ever mentioning the trunk release going bad.
 
So a piece of my trunk key broke off in the cylinder and froze it. $40. to a locksmith and voila! Surgery done, rekeyed and new keys.
Now all I need is a mod to helpe.with the other and I am golden.

Ive replaced 2, but its a simple fix like putting the gas cap back on, didn't feel I needed to mention it

And now with no broken key inside the lock, the trunk button works and releases it? I don't believe I have ever used a key in mine either. It's either the remote or door button only. I'm assuming that Spree's question was, why was the key used to begin with...

I see you said that a key was broken inside the lock but was the lock also broken too? Damn, now I'm confused.

Mine did. Lost trunk tail lights and the trunk release. At least I know my key works. Was a few broken wires just behind the trunk trim where the wires that go down the hinge deal go into the rest of the harness. Easy fix.
 
Because the piece of key was lodged in the cylinder it made it unable to turn. The key fob or the in car release turn the cylinder which in turn unlocks the trunk. No cylinder turn no unlock. Capice?
