build up of my 95 mark viii

I think it looks cool. You got some farther away picture of the car with the steelies?

ive seen this car in person and the paint and bodywork are stellar. mike is really good at what he does

I really like the quality of paint and body work you do..but I just don't quite get the direction you're taking this car..at first it seemed like a mild custom that you used as a driver, but it seems like you've put soo many hours into constantly redoing/repainting little things here and there yet you drive it as a daily driver..why spend all of the time and money in customizing a car and have it look like sh*t all the time. Half your pictures of the car show it parked in the mud with dirt and and sh*t all over it and driving on steel wheels?? What is that about, you have a nice ass custom car with junk rims on it. And I see what the other guy was saying about the "little things".. at the very least I would swap out those yellowed a$$ head lights to either refinished ones or HIDs, eventhough you don't drive it at night it makes it look so much better..

I don't know, maybe I just have a freakish attention to detail, but I think you could clean it up a bit around the edges..and for gods sake get a beater to drive in the crap weather or something..

Whats wrong with his post?

I am very anal with my cars. I was trying to say in a nice way pretty much what he said.

Makes no sense spraying a car over and over and over when little stuff is ignored. I wish i could spray my whole car just the oem ford black but i dont have that luxury.

also just bought a flush mount gas cap it will go in the trunk jam up by the window

I've done a couple of motorcycle tanks with that cap. Does the gen 1 have a vented cap?
Hell... I can't remember if my gen 2 has a vented cap; but if I remember right that one in the picture is, unless they sell them both ways.

Wasn't trying to be a dick, I was just pointing out the little things that bother me about it..just some constructive criticism..I don't think he's gonna be too butt hurt, considering some of the sh*t talking I've seen on here..I love the quality of work he does though, I just don't get where it's going..

go back and read a little of what i said and it will answer most of your questions. yes it started out as a mild custom daily then i decided to spic eit up a little then figured screw it ill stop using it as a daily and go all out on it. have the pics of it parked in the mud or it dirty is because i have a 2 block dirt road to my shop and when it rains it floods like crazy and being a daily why wash it everyday to get it dirty again? and yes for the winter i put on some steelies and took off my $2500 billet specialties rims so i wouldnt mess them up (we usualy have a pretty bad winters but its been crazy nice so far). i have plans of refurishing the head lights just havent gotten to it yet and it already has hids on it. i have other vehicles to drive but choose to drive this one because i like it. once i start the suicide doors thow it will be parked in the shop and ill drive my durango. the car get cleaned up very very well for shows and such so im not really sure why some of you get so bent out of shape because my car is dirty.

fair enough..the only reason i say anything about it being dirty is because you've put so much effort into paint and body work on this thing..if it were mine I'd have it in the shop after everytime i drove it to wash off mud or salt..i'd hate to see a car i did all that work to start to rust away (if you've ever seen marks in the junk yard you'll know what i mean)

Either way, I love the work you do, keep it up!

i actually use to wsh it alot but then after the hood got a huge rock chip in it that even took a chunk of the smc out with it, the front bumper got hit by some jack ass in a parking lot, and one of my bueaty rings came off and scratched up the passenger side door, i kinda gave up keeping it spotless and thats when i decided to just go threw and redo the whole car. now when its done this time it will not be going into my shop again unless its completly dry out and will be washed when it leaves again and will kept garaged and only out for a nice cruise or for a show.

i love this thread, what a sick car honestly. all of that custom work looks amazing, i would drive it every day haha. the paint scheme is different but it works on that car imo. amazing work, keep it up dude

I love the car and what yer doing (especially the relocation of the taillights), but that silver stripe around it just drives me nuckin futz. Sorry, can't stand it. Makes the car look like a popcorn vending machine.
Not a Hater, just a WTFer. And yeah, a guy with the clear-coat on his factory paint '96 shot totally to hell.

you guys really dont pay attention do you? the cars being completlly redone with all new paint so there is really no need to you to worry about the stripe. oh and its not silver by the way.

Mike, awesome work no matter what. I have worked in custom shops for a long time and I know what this kind of work takes. If you do this everyday for customers cars I am not sure how you do it for yourself but it is incredible work.

Did you repaint the whole thing again and ditch the stripe? Also just an idea but..have you ever thought of reshaping the trunk lid and getting rid of the fake hump, maybe grafting in some kind of spoiler? Im sure it would be a lot of work but judging by what you've done so far I'm sure you could pull it off.

not yet but i will be go back to page 5 maybe 4 and you will see how im going to be painting it. i will never shave the hump on the truck i feel it will completly ruin the look of the car and i will never put a spoiler on anything they are to ricerish for me.
