Bush has some skills

Nice!

Looks like the good old 'pissed off wife evasion technique' :D

That was a damn decent dodge.

I wonder what would have happened to that reporter if he threw a shoe at Saddam in protest, back in the day.

First he would be burned alive then shot then hung.

This Iraqi is a Folk Hero.

BAGHDAD — A day after an Iraqi television journalist threw his shoes at President Bush at a news conference in Baghdad on Sunday, his act of defiance toward the American commander-in-chief reverberated throughout Iraq and across the Arab world.
In Sadr City, the sprawling Baghdad suburb that has seen some of the most intense fighting between insurgents and American soldiers since the 2003 invasion, thousands of people marched in his defense. In Syria, he was hailed as a hero. In Libya, he was given an award for courage.

Bush is so loved

It's scary that someone could pull that off. I'm sure they have metal detectors but still....

That's a tough thing to prevent.. Can you imagine the outage if the press were required to remove their shows before attending a press conference?

I guess some of the "liberated" are not so happy with the "liberator"

Interesting that Maliki tried to protect him while he ducked from the second shoe...

Your air quotes are absurd.

The Iraqi should be kissing the ground Bush walked on.

If he had tried this with Saddam he'd be fed head first into a wood chipper.

This whole Iraq war is one big investment for Bush, we should have never invaded Iraq, Bush made that decision and now he is returning to his ranch, richer than before he left. Iraq was much safer with Saddam in office, his tactics were harsh, but there were no EFP's, Kidnapping, beheadings, explosions and suicide bombings.

Hey, my shoes are removed every time I get on a plane... the steel rods in the stilettos always set off the detectors. ;)

This picture is the epitome of BuSh's failed policy in Iraq.....

We did such a great job "liberating" the Iraqis our "leader" has to hide behind Maliki for protection.

Yup - he is much better off then with Saddam.

Shoe thrower 'beaten in custody'

And for the record, most of what you post is absurd.

The brother of the guy has reported to the media that he's been beaten... take that for what it's worth. And I can't believe that you're going to consider being "roughed up" a bit in a Middle Eastern jail the same as being fed into a wood chipper because you said something bad about the dictator.

And to clear this up, a spokesperson for the Iraqi military says the journalist is in good health and said the allegations were untrue.

This comment is so wrong, I do not know how to respond to it. Every single sentence you posted is completely inconsistent with reality.

Seriously, do you think that idiotic comment really contributes to the level of discussion in this community? A few of you guys on the left keep claiming victimhood around here, yet all you have ever done is engage in instigation and baiting, then scamper off.

Your comment on the picture is simply idiotic, it makes no sense. Bush wasn't hiding behind Maliki, nor is there some obscure historic example where that you can associate with this either. So, other than just trying to provoke a negative response, your post has no purpose.

Unfortunately because of stupid provocations like that, and outright idiotic statements as made by Lincolnx2, you can't discuss the issue of Iraq. To be unwilling to recognize that both the strategic positives associated with the operation, or simply the social improvements in that country resulting from the operation, is dishonest.

And it also needs to be recognized how BADLY things will turn if we were to prematurely and hastily withdraw.

Everyone here is willing to acknowledge that intelligence problems and the strategic mistakes made after the initial operation was conducted. There's candor and honest debate on the right, but you leftists apparently can't or won't introduce reality into that talking points you like to hit.

Yup!! Saddam used poison gas to kill thousands of Kurds. Then he said, 'Wow! That works so good that I'll never use it again!! But he had thousands of shells stockpiled just because he liked the look of them, and labs capable of creating the gas to load them with.

And when he had a facility just about ready to make nuclear weapons, and the Israelis flew a bombing mission and destroyed it, he said, 'Wow, I hadn't better do anything like nukes any more, I might get bombed.' And caravans of the kind of specialized transportation necessary to make nuclear equipment portable were seen by observation satellite to be headed to Syria as we headed for Baghdad. So we didn't find WMDs.

He also bought 400 tons of yellowcake uranium because he wanted to make yellow crayola crayons.
