Cable On-Board Diagnostics

it doesn't work like that.

you need an interface that connects the databus from the car to the PC - turns it into a serial data stream that the PC software can read.

if you look at Autoenginuity or AutoTap - you see the interface connector I'm talking about..

Thanks gays
But I didn’t want to bay a compleate bakage because I have the sotweare but I didn’t have the cable , my qustion is
- Just I need Softwear and the cable to make a OBDII, and what the good cable should I use?

dude - you do not understand.

You need more than a cable.

You must build or buy an interface that connects to the ODBII bus of the car and converts it into a data stream (typically serial) that the computer can use.

You then use software to read that data stream into meaningful data.

welcome. dhahran looks like a nice place. what is the costs per liter or gallon of gasoline there? also is it friendly place to americans?

Hey Quik, I was looking at one of your cars interior pics....

Don't you have your scan tool plugged in all the time?

If so did you relocate your ODB port?

Reason I ask is that I don't see anything hanging down in the picture.

I use to have the AutoEnginuity unit hooked up all the time - it's still in the car...

but now I have wired up the LiveWire - and use that only.

It is plugged into the ODBII port - I tuck the cable up to minimize how much it gets in the way - I have not moved the actual port.
