cadillac 5.7?

Just like I said in my post, Cadillac is now targeting customers who would be more inclined to buy Euro Imports... (BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, Audi, etc...)

Yes as you said Cadillac would be willing to target Jaguar etc...but not Jaguar targeting Cadillac. That's were I miss read your post. Sorry too many Lowenbra's.

I haven't read much on the Jaguar but I do remember Ford trying to release a affordable Jaguar for the working man. Is this true?

The X-type came out in 2002 and is the most affordable yet that I know of. I considered one for a little while before I bought my LSE, I pretty much ruled it out as being to small, and no V-8 available. The 3.0 with a manual would of been the only way I would of went, but they're rare because the auto was a no charge option. Sorry about the babble.

Therefore from your research could the CTS compete with the Jaguar of the targeted class, Lincoln guys?

I wouldn't even consider any of the new Cadys. I just don't get the look at all. That aside, I think the X-type and CTS are so different in styling, its weird to think of them in the same class.

67Continental, since when did Jaguar consider itself to be in competition with a Cadillac design(Ignorant)?

CTS is a competitor the S type. Similar price categories - Both are around 50k for the V8 models, and Don't forget ford owns jaguar and uses certain jaguar brands to compete in the north american marketplace.

X-type is more of a competitor to BMW 3 series and Audi A4 than to anything Cadillac has to offer.

Ok, same thing thou, they're so differentin styling. Hard to imagine the same people looking at them. See the X-type was more the LSEs used price range, thats why I toyed with the idea, but ruled it out as to small. The S-type was the same class and size, even the same platform, but price jumped more than I wanted to spend. I do 25k-30k a year business miles so new isn't something to consider and price plays a part also. I like the Cadys body style before the latest one. Between the X-type and S-type I found my self liking the look of the X exterior and interior is much sportier, but the S V-8 and size was a bigger desire. The LSE seems to fit well.
