Hey guys,

I don't post a lot here as almost all of my questions are answered before I need to ask them, but I need a little help with this one.

I discovered that my left coil spring snapped and the strut piston is knocking around and making disgusting noises as I drive along relatively smooth streets. I'm afraid to drive the beast now.

So I started my parts search and discovered that Ford discontinued the coil spring and they have no alternatives. I tried all of the aftermarket places I could find (I'm in Toronto, Canada)...Canadian Tire, PartSource, Hot Spot, 4 different auto wreckers, online searches and a bunch of small mom & pop shops. I can't find the coil springs anywhere new or used!:(

I can find lowering kits, but I don't want to lower my car.

Apparently, the sport models (leather shifter) have a different suspension type that is not compatible with the base model (though I'm not sure what the difference is between the two). I ordered a set of Monroe Sensa-Traks from PartSource (for half the price Ford was asking) but they did not specify if for sport or base model, just one listing. I'll just have to see if they fit.

Now, I still need coil springs. I'd rather not reinstall my coil springs in pieces.

I'm scratching my head here. Any suggestions?

Have you looked at RockAuto.com? I buy all my parts there.

As far as I know the different shocks are compatible the difference is firmness. You have to buy motorcraft though to get the exact same setup. Monroe only offers one option, that will probably be pretty soft....or more like the non sport as far as ride goes.

If you want new springs you are going to have to go aftermarket ( Eibachs). When I was looking for Motorcraft spings Max said they are not made anymore. If you want stock you will have to find a parts car.

Thanks guys. I did try Rockauto.com. They don't have it. I guess I'm outta luck on this if trying to keep stock. I don't want to change the height or go through the trouble of constantly adjusting to get the height right, so Eibachs are out.

I'm trying a couple other auto wreckers on Monday. Fingers crossed...

Tascaparts.com has the rears. Dont make the fronts anymore

Eibachs don't require constant adjustment.

Your only source may be a wrecking yard.
