My center vent is cracked. I found a new one on Ebay, but mine looks a little different. I haven't pulled it yet, but it has 2 little round pegs or something on each side, including where it is cracked. I am assuming that is something that the buttons connect to on the back? The one on Ebay doesn't have these though. Will this create a problem? Also, it just pulls straigh out, right? Pic included.

The buttons are a repair someone made and are NOT stock!!!

Yes, pulls straight out...

agreed, those pins are somebody else's rig job!

yes, straight back to remove, there are two clips that hold it in in the lower outside corners of the panel.

word of advise, before you put the new one in, as they are so prone to breaking, you should reinforce it with epoxy or JB weld to make sure the new one doesn't break as well...

I should reinforce the clips on the new one or the buttons themselves? I think the new one has buttons on it or at least it does in the pic.

The buttons DO NOT belong!!!! The face of the piece should be smooth. On the back you will see posts where the button assembly screws onto the back of the vent piece; THAT is what you want to reinforce.

yes, I'm sure when you take your out, you will see the parts of plastic that receive the screw that holds the button assembly to the panel get brittle and just disintegrate and thats probably why you have two pins sticking through, because thef previous owner did not know the correct way to repair it. that is where you need to reinforce.
