Hello everyone and good day. I have a 1998 Mark VIII that I absolutely love but I lost everything electrical except the power door locks and the car still runs? I was hoping someone out there has any idea how to fix this or where the central control module is located. It's an awesome car but no wipers, windows,ac seats, radio headlights. Please help and thanks! gened33

Im just throwing this out there, but you did check all of the fuses in the fuse boxes right?

Hello, thanks for the suggestion. Sometimes it is the obvious things that get overlooked. I will check all fuses. Thanks again G

Thanks guys, I will check these out but if they all check out good what next, central control module? Thanks again, Gene

Central control module.

Hello everyone, I checked all fuses and relays and bummer they all checked out fine. The car starts runs great and locks, seats and mirrors work nothing else. No lights, wipers ac windows signals etc. Any ideas or cures? I figure someone has encountered this problem before. Any help would be awesome!

i am at a loss... but if it was me I would start by checking the battery terminals and wires going to it. also look and make for certain the ground leads are still good. did this just happen all of the sudden, at one time?

Could this possibly be under the category of "these cars do weird things when voltage is low"? Maybe alternator on the way out?

my old bmw e30s gauges would go crazy when the alt was going bad... Good Call andy

Well, since I've been here, I've seen a few threads with Marks doing weird things, and people that know these cars coming to the conclusion that it was something electrical, most likely an alternator. You'd figure these symptoms would be more frequent with threads that end up being a bad alternator, but its worth a shot to see.

I have factory HID's but I'll check the alt. Thanks to all this really is stumping me. Thanks again, G

I would check the headlight grounds. They are on the front of the radiator core support. 1 on each side of core support. 10 or 11 mm head bolt, can't remember which. Remove them and clean them good, taking the paint off of the support. Then disconnect your battery for about 20 seconds. Reconnect battery and see if everything comes back.

A long shot but easy to check is the wire harness at the trunk hinge, drivers side.
If shorted can do some weird things.

Hello everyone, FYI As it turns out it was the lighting control module near glove box. I swapped one from my silver car to this black car and everything came back except the car won't start and the security light flashes real fast. The dealer told me they can't flash the module out of my other car!!! Does anyone know a fix for this? Very frustrating. I really hope that I don't have to swap every computer from one to the other cause I hear there are a lot! I love the black LSC and the silver one has a smashed nose on it. Thank you everyone, great site too. Gene.

Swap the lock cylinder out of the silver car into the black car that matches the scil module, then it will start. Of course the key for that won't work for your doors, etc.
