check engine light not working

my 96 failed inspection bc the CE light doesn't show when engine off and key in run position. guess it's the bulb, but all-data says it's an hour's work to get behind the assembly. that's for a dlr tech, so it would take me a lot longer.

recently replaced air ride system with new struts/springs at all four wheels. didn't monkey with wiring yet, just letting it say "check air ride."

could the CE light be related? is it just a burned out bulb? something else?

also bought shop manual and wiring manual this week, waiting on the to arrive.

Did the old struts have the wiring that plugged into them? If so did you replace them with the same kind. Aftermarket struts are available without electronics. Check eng. light should come on with key on engine off. Have you had scanner or computor hooked up yet to see if you have codes, I would do that first and let us know.
