I installed an LMS mass air kit with MAF adapter and K&N conical a couple months ago. Almost immediately after I get a check engine light with two codes, P1134 and P1154 "Manufacturer Control Fuel Air Metering"...so basically either real lean or rich..i'm thinking lean... understandable due to the higher volume of air sucked throught the intake...idk...is this a common problem?? i though it was maybe all the oil from the K&N filter causing the MAF to malfunction...i tried a new MAF sensor today and the light comes right back on....any ideas?? should i at least try running a couple steps colder plugs to compensate??

Secondly...just recently when I go to drive my car in the morning it runs like hell...like it is starving for gas...give it a few minutes to warm up and it runs fine. I also noticed a new code, so yes 3 codes total, P1537, saying the IMRC valve stuck open?? nice. does this mean they need cleaning or..?? what a mess.....

I don't know what year mark you've got but to compensate for the extra air you need more fuel. Get a chip or a tuner.

Did you get the chip before or after the mass air flow? Because if its running lean its because you've got too much air and not enough fuel. If you got the chip before the mass airflow you need to get it reprogrammed.

i ordered the chip and intake from LMS at the same time...so i would image they programmed the chip with that in mind...i didn't know that it would require a reburn with an intake though...i'll have to check with the company...what about the IMRC code??

Good luck with that LMS chip. I had nothing but trouble with mine. I would really think about getting a SCT tune instead. There has also been talk about the LMS MAF's causing a lean condition. I would try removing the chip and replacing the MAF with the origional.

well ya of course thats going to make the problem go away...im trying to figure a way to make it work with the intake and chip...why remove them and let $500 collect dust? i know plenty of people have used both mods..not everyone can have this problem...

I've got just the MAF and im pretty sure its causing a lean condition at WOT. Because the computer doesn't read off the MAF sensor it reads off of whats programmed into the computer. But with regular driving conditions I don't think its causing it to run lean.

Why don't you call Geno? I know that I would not want my car running even a little tiny bit lean as it could cause problems.

Going overboard with the oil on the filter will also turn a MAF into junk. If I remember correctly they come preoiled with a small amount, but just something to keep in mind when it comes time to clean your filter and you're reoiling it.

it does read off the maf. it does not use the O2s at WOT.

overoiling will kill the maf but from experience just running an oiled filter on fords will take out the maf over time. just get a can of maf cleaner and if you dont let it go to far you can clean it (i have about an 85% success rate at work)
