Is there a way to check these things before I decide to go on another trip and have one go out on me?

It seems that they always want to go out when I'm hours from home and it's driving me crazy. Is the only way to feel confident in this car again to replace all of them at once? Or can someone at a shop check them to look for early warning signs that they may fail?

Any advice here is appreciated.

Replace them all and be done with it. There are stress tests the dealer can do but that wont predict what may go bad later. When one fails, what makes you think they wont all fail sooner or later

not to mention, getting them all properly tested cost about as much as just replacing them.

Its rare to have to replace all your coils at once. However, the LS is a unique beast. Apparently, it likes to go through coils every few years. It's sad considering most cars have coils that last over 100k miles with ease.
