Hi guys I'am just new to LVC and was wondering if some could help me out,When i put the car i reverse i get a chiming noise until i take it out of reverse and that is with the seat belt on. Any guesses?
Ford has a built in a failsafe for dealers and potential owners to determine if someone switched around an instrument cluster with lower mileage than the LS actually had. It can also be caused by a battery that's been dead for over two months so it isn't a complete guarantee but it will make you aware enough to ask some pointed questions.
On the LS if the instrument cluster is switched out and the information from the old cluster (which included mileage) is not uploaded from the old cluster then downloaded to the new cluster (including the old mileage) the LS will have two telltale signs:
1. When you shift into reverse the seat belt chime will start sounding, even if you have the seat belt on.
2. The cruise control light will start flashing when you go over 70 mph.
Correct, A dealer can reset the instrument cluster to stop the chime.....
or you can just live with it.
A dealer can also do a OASIS check which may reveal something closer to the true mileage of your LS, if in fact the instrument cluster has been changed.
Thanks guys it make sense now the car was a USA car but it 2003 it was brought into Canada.I think someone did change the cluster because in is KMS dominant not MPH. The kms on the car jive to what the car fax report was.I work at a Ford dealer in the body shop so i will get a tect to reset the cluster. Thanks again.
