I decided to try blacking out the chrome window trim like I've seen in another thread, but couldn't find the right size pinstripe tape around here. So, before I ordered some, I decided to try some (don't laugh or judge) electrical tape to make sure I liked how it looked. It went on so fast and easy that I did it all in that. Just had to stick it on, press it into the seam and then gently cut the excess off with an razor blade. We'll see if it holds up. Here are a couple of pics. The tape actually matches the black rubber really well.

You can't even tell from the pictures that it is electrical tape but I doubt it will hold up very long. If it gets real hot where you live after a while the tape will get real sticky and be a pain in the ass to get off, you'll need goo gone. Like the look though.

Very clever!
Yeah it looks good but I bet it will start to peel off soon especially as the weather heats up.

If you like it go to Napa or your closest paint supply shop and get the right stuff. The electrical tape isn't going to last. I'm on near a year on mine and it looks the same as the day I put it on. 3M 3/8" is the one you want.

Thats cool Ive been wondering if somone ever painted them before. I think Im just going to do it this way instead.

Looks good, Can't tell.
NOW GET THAT OFF THE CAR NOW!!!
In roughly a week depending on temperature & the quality of the tape used, the adhesive glue will start sticking to the car instead of the tape. This will be a pain to remove and it will catch all of the dirt in the air until then.

Painting it would by nice but it would be about 4X the amount of work (if you can easily find auto tape). I had to paint the windows plastic trim on another can back when Ford was using crap the sun would destroy.

I know, I know. Since the NAPA around here only has 1/8" and 1/4", I had to order some 3/8". I plan on doing it correctly very soon, before the electrical tape turns to goo. Thanks for the input about it causing problems.
