City Lights in 03+

Yes, my 04 came from the factory with headlights. I didnt have to buy them as an option. :p

Are you referring to the 1931 Charlie Chaplin movie?? Because that's the only "City Lights" that I am aware of.

I think he's talking about retrofiting street lights as your headlights...

DRL? If so, you can go to the dealer and have this modification done.

If you do mean daytime running lights, that should be easy. All LS's sold in Canada have daytime running lights. Like one most cars, they are implemented with the highbeams at a reduced brightness. They come on anytime the transmission is not in park. Activating them on your car should be as simple as upgrading your PCM code with the Canadian version. As with all things that sound simple, finding a dealer willing or able to do this may be the hard part.

No, no, no, no.

City lights like the small 5W bulbs that are used in conjunction with parking lights on European vehicles.

Like so......

Understand, man? :D

Why not just do angel eyes? Serve as DRLs and look good too.

Why do you want that anyway?

Why not angel eyes? Because they're ~$500 for starters. I would consider it if it was more economical.

Why? I've seen many cars overseas with them, and it's a nice look. Don't know yet if I would do it, just wondering if it had been done.

What do you think Daytime Running Lights are for? They serve the same purpose, do they not? If not, then please explain. :D

Edit: OK, did some researching and found this: "In Europe, the front marker lights work differently from the US. When we turn on our "parking" lights, the amber corner lights and the amber bumper lights come on. In Europe it's illegal to have amber lights in the front, so they replace the amber bumper lights with white ones and they make it so the corner lights don't come on. The corner lights are used only as turn signals."

So, with that explained, why in the world would you want such a light on your LS, since amber lights on the front aren't illegal in the U.S.? I guess I don't understand your reasoning, unless you're trying to make your LS more like a European car, and are going to disable the front amber lights (on the headlights and front bumper), except for use as a turn signal. Seems like a pretty stupid European law to me.

different look though...

A Lincoln and a Geo serve the same basic purpose, but they go about it in two totally different ways ;)

And my original question still stands; what's the purpose, as "city lights" are only required by law in Europe? ;)

to be unique, I guess... Although I'd probably customize my lights by wiring in led's into the headlight reflective housing. A few strategically placed bulbs would be pretty unique.

Yeah, I guess so. It would probably be easier to have the dealer turn on DRL for you. But hey, a good project here and there is never a bad thing! :D

EXACTLY! :D

Andy

I know someone on this site who has a set of 1st gen LS headlights that have city lights from the factory. I probably wouldnt belive it if I had not seen it myself. So by saying that LINCOLN may have done this to some gens 2s as well. HE bought them on the internet yard sell ebay.

It's listed in the Owner's manual. I also saw it as Dealer option in the 2005 brochure for Lincoln cars and trucks.
