Cleaned MAF meter and K&N filter.

I have been noticing a drop in gas mileage and power so today I popped my K&N panel filter out and it was FILTHY!! been about 2 years so no wonder. got it cleaned up and re-oiled and put back in, while I was there I decided to clean the MAF meter too, man I don't know which of the two helped out so much but I got a very noticable power improvement and 1.8 more MPG in town than before. it was definitly worth doing. I went from 17MPG in town to 18.8.

...I'd better give that a try too.
I've been trying to bring my fuel efficiency up, with very little success for quite some time. I just noticed a MAF cleaner at PepBoys the other day too.
 
I think you can use any electrical connection cleaner. I think Geno mentioned something about gumcutter or something. Let me look it up.
 
I just don't get you guys with the K&N crap.

I haven't seen a dyno demonstrate any kind of significant gain using a K&N.

I have been driving Marks for over 11 years now and have never had to clean a MAF. I just use quality paper filters and never have to think about a gummed up MAF.

Why do you guys punish yourselves with those K&N's? All they are is trouble.
 
I agree that the K&N doesn't give you any real power gain. but my MAF wasn't gummed up either, as a matter of fact it was very clean considering it hasn't been touched in 140,000 miles. But I thought what the heck it can't hurt anything.:)

LMS Icebox doesn't work with paper filters. ;)
