cobra exhaust manifolds?

Will 96-98 stock cobra exhaust manifolds fit on a 1994 mark VIII so i can get rid of my cats? i was goin to buy frpp but if the cobra ones fit i think there relativaly the same.
 
dont believe so, something with k-members bein different from stangs to our platforms, as far as i know the only thing that can fit without modification is stock and kooks, but im no expert
 
The Ford Racing shorties fit, because JC1994 had them I'm pretty sure. Don't know about the Cobra manifolds though, but I don't see why they wouldn't if the shorties fit. I'm sure a few more people will chime in with some ideas.
 
About that, I have Cobras on mine. While I may have a 2004 heads and such, they will work. But as mentioned, the steering shaft is the issue. I went over-kill with two u-joints and a support. All you need is a u-joint and a pice of shaft with a coupling to the OEM shaft. You basically remove the rag joint, thats what give you the room needed. I can dig up more info if really needed from Jamie.
 
also you would have problems with your EGR tube which is a B!TCH to try to bend.
 
Ditto on the EGR, I have no EGR, my friends have no EGR and you should not too!

Friends don't let friends have EGR!
 
You need an EGR to pass emissions. There is a visual check for it if your part of the country requires a smog test. Besides it's there for a reason, it helps to reduce (nox) which will occur without a properly working EGR valve. The EGR valve actually reduces the temperature of the cylinder heads.

I bet that you guys without catylitic converters and emissions equiptment must have some really stinky exhaust. You can make a car fast while still being emissions friendly.

my VR4 passes a tailpipe sniffer no problem with no cats.
 
well i went to get a sticker today and got a nice R. it passed everything besides the Co2 and it was over by 4 points the limit is 20 and i was 24. something. i still have all the cats and resinator but i have cherry bomb turbo muffs (for now). i need new plug wires badly so im not shure it that will help at all. it skips and stuff. i am geting the wires this week (cobra wires). I was going to kill the guy that was doing the inspection though. he put the jack under the front end and jacked it up and then the car droped off the jack (wrong way to jack it up.) i told my father that was in the car with me (he was driving) that i should get a passed sticker just of that.

sorry about the rant but Mass sucks basickly. im never goin to the gas station again.

Some vehicles do not require an EGR or AIR PUMP because they meet the clean air standards, Others have them for a reason. I just really don't see the reason to disconnect everything and chop your cats and EGR off? You might see very minimal gains (IF ANY) You might even lose low end torque without the cats. Besides do you want your car to stink? It will without the cats.

But it's your car so you can do what you want!:)

well lets see, in "my never ending project" we used kooks headers in the dohc bird, which required us to "make" a egr tube, not to mention that since i had to hand wire the eng harness, it was overall less wiring for the egr sys (and the cat monitors) and with no emissions why bother. and for the record, the exhaust doesn't stink, and at least the imrc's are clean :D
 
Ya, its not a matter of gain. Its a matter of practicality. There was no way I was going to custom make, fit, bed or modify and EGR tube for my setup. As for the cats, they HAD to go since I had to have custom exhaust and needed Cobra manifolds.

Its just being practical. And before one criticizes others, keep in mind not all cars have these things, specifically older vehicles. If I restore a 1954 Studebaker should I add an EGR setup and cats? No. Its no more practical to do so with and older car than with a new one if there is no need too.

If I had the parts or could have gotten "stock" fitting parts, they would have gone on.

Oh, and my exhaust smells clean, certainly A LOT cleaner then my roomies Continental!

Hmm my old 72 Satellite's exhaust didn't stink (well all exhaust stinks like exhaust, I think you're talking about that 'rotten egg' smell) and it never had cats. Right now my 73 Apollo's exhaust only stinks like race gas. :D
