So my car over heated the other day and engine went into protect mode. I ran the codes on it and I got 1299 so I went and changed the thermostat. Bleed the system and the temp is now steady and car is running fine. Thing is now the heat isn't working the way it should be. I think I'm going to take it somewhere to flush the system and see what that gets me. Can you guys think of anything else I can look into to get the heat working correctly again?

Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!

1299 is meaningless.
I assume you meant P1299. P1299 just indicates that you let it overheat so much that it had to activate failsafe cooling to limit the damage being done.

It's very likely that you need to replace your degas bottle as well as most of the other plastic parts, unless you are an exception to what 90+% of us have been through. It's also very important to follow the factory bleed procedure to the letter.

Replaced the degas bottle 2 months ago and followed the bleeding procedure to the letter and even did the park on a hill and bleed it again (read that somewhere also). After changing the thermostat issue is gone but heat is still messy but figured that the dccv is bad. So I can get by running the heat with the a/c on until I get some warmer weather this weekend to go ahead and change it.

Thanks for the input though.
