Cold Start Thumping

2005 LS Sport cold start only thumping. By the time I get out to open hood to locate where thumping is coming from it stops. Only thumps on cold startup. Have had unusually cold weather below freezing temps here in N GA.

Also some chirping going on for a bit longer belt or bearings in starter???

Has 113k miles on it just purchased in August 2013 so out of warranty had 90 days. I think I over paid for it so no room for dealer costly repairs.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcomed

I have that too, check your harmonic balancer and see if its whobbley, mine thumps only when it is cold for like 2 seconds then goes away , the chirp could be a worn belt too
