Please.:D Me an the wife both like alot about the 3.9L LS's and we wanted to talk to some people who own one and learn more about them and if they're problematic at all. So far the most common problems I'm seeing are bad coils and leaky valve cover gaskets and seals. Is there anything else I need to know about? I've heard about check engine lights and valvetrain ticking noises is this true?

TIA!:)

Personally, I love the car. I wanted one ever since it came out. I think your best bet would be an '02 or newer. The 03s got more horsepower and some cosmetic changes. I have an '02 with 55,000 miles on it. In the 2 years that I have had it, the following "major" problems have occurred:

1. Leaky valve cover gaskets
2. 2 bad coils
3. Leaky coolant reservoir (this week)
4. AC blowing hot out of the passenger side (some valve thingy)
5. Inoperable seat heater (driver's side)

Other than that, just standard maintenance. I love the car. RWD, V8, 4 doors. It's the perfect family/sports car.:)

go for it

i love my 2000 3.9 V8 LS, after tons of research, just watch the valves and rear window tracks. smooth car aweaome ride

Buy one!

I have 2002 LSE. and I love it.
only thing that I had to do was replace rear wheel bearing and swap out the heating coil for driver side seat. Both were under warranty so I didnt pay a dime. It's at 60,000 mile currently and I dont have any issues at all. (knock on wood).
so far my out of pocket cost for mechanical repair has been $0.
although I did spend a bit for mods, paint and such...
good luck finding one.

i have a 2001 and i love it. I had to replace the valvle covers, 2 coils, and one window regulator...its gonna take a lot for me to ever get rid of this car

Thanks a lot for the input guys, I really appreciate it. Looks like I will be in the market for on then if that's the only major things. I know no used car is perfect but I can deal with those things. :)

Speaking of "not perfect". Be prepared to replace the rear view mirror. ($80 - $100)
