I ordered a custom 10" converter from BOC 2 weeks ago and installed it last thursday. I haven't driven the car but 30 miles with the vibration. The vibration occurs around 1100 rpm then smoothes then becomes prominent around 5k. I watched the converter while it was on a hoist today and it seems as if the front cover is loping as if it's out of round or was welded off center... I'm in the process of contacting BOC regarding the situation. Anybody else encounter any type of trouble such as this?
I’ve emailed you back with some instructions to check. I’m not going to just take anyone’s word that the product is bad until it is thoroughly checked out. I’ve been doing this for years and you wouldn’t believe how many times I’ve heard the words, professionally installed, Ford Tech, Ford Master Tech did the installation. Not trying in anyway to slam you or your capabilities so lets not go there. I just experienced a Ford dealership last week that called me 6 or more times a day for a week trying to install a fully built 4R75W and TC. They had the wrong turbine sensor and couldn’t get it installed in the case. I sent them the correct part numbers with pics and they refused to listen and decided to tear down the transmission because the sensor was too long and wouldn’t seat due to it hitting rev sun gear shell. The correct sensor is shorter. I could tell you many more but you get my point.
Not ruling that out either, it didn’t balloon, not that one with his setup.
I do trans work professionally. I made sure everything was straight before bolting it up. Lonnie says it may have not been seated in the trans properly... Cleary not possible. converter nuts went on easily without cocking the converter to one side. I can't rule out that it's not the converter. Just this week we had a converter leak from the converter hub to the front cover welds. In my eyes anything could be wrong.
I’m not ruling out anything at this point. But until everything is checked out I’m not going to just assume that it’s the TC. If everything checks out then you send me back the unit and I’ll have it checked out, replaced or repaired as needed. It’s really that simple, not a big deal like some are trying to make it. You have my warranty info

I'm sure that there will be lots of blaming you before the converter gets replace (if it is bad...) but that is how it goes...
3200 isn't really much more than stock, go big or go home
I'm thinking of doing a 4000rpm or maybe 4200rpm 9.5 from Circle D....
Brandon, why you even here? People this guy has been following me around sites looking to try and slam and damage my reputation beside ruin my business by persuading people to go elsewhere because I don’t pass his customer service. What he was pissed at me about was the fact that I put my children’s custody battle before one of his emails. He actually admits it over here
CVN thread So anything he posts is basically flaming when it comes to me.
And Brandon fully knows that this TC is custom built by Chris at Circle D for my company. He’s just trying to redirect you away from my business.
I feel for you man. I forget exactly how many times I had to pull my tc every time it was either the wrong one or wrong stall. I think it was three different converters and I know what you mean about lookin forward to pulling it again. I got it down to a science now. Last time pulled it and reinstalled one evening and test drove. Dont let them get the best of you. Don't settle for less than what you want. it will be worth it long term.
I don’t recall selling you any of my TCs, mind explaining yourself a little more?
exactly. But I will fight to get it. I can get documented recipts of professional installation.
You installed the TC you told me. So how can you "get" receipts for a professional install? I don’t cover install fees, fluids and so on. You won’t find anyone that does. Take a look at the warranty.
Perhaps the converter is not properly seated? I've seen this many times.
The dimension from the pilot face on the converter to the face of the bell housing should be 7/16" to 9/16".
Not being seated properly will cause it to 'lope' off center and put undue thrust on the transmission.
Same thing I said and was my first thoughts John. I couldn’t tell you how many don’t seat those TCs fully. As for the measurements, they are actually less but you were on the right track. If it wasn’t seated properly, 3 Clunks, not 2. The last one is more a big thud then it wasn’t seated. It not being fully seated will cause exactly what he is experiencing. It will also damage the TC, trans pump and put excessive pressure on the engine crank taking out the main thrust bearing. In just the past 2 weeks there has been 2 that have done this. It’s a very common install mistake and becomes costly.
You will get to have some fun trying to get a refund if it is bad... I'd have it stalled up to like 3500 or maybe even 3700....
Another poke Kid? Get over it, you seem to like hiding behind your keyboard and just tossing in more fuel.
yeh i know. Maybe I shouldve just told them its the wrong stall speed.
That’s pretty shady and shows the type of person you are. Read the warranty…..
Come on KK, let the customer and the vendor "handle it".
no need to fan the flames...
If it turns out to be a defective product I dont doubt for a sec Lonnie will stand behind it.
BUT. if it turns out to be a improper install I wouldnt' expect Lonnie nor his convertor vendor to stand behind it.
let's wait til ALL the details are in before jumping on Lonnies nuts...m'kay?
Seriously, you dont make a good troll.. your too nice a guy to effectively troll someone.
(lol)
