I must say, these are some impressive cars here at the top (including that 'Formula One1500' ;) ). I really would to have liked to see stock versions competing better though... Why must every series allow modifications? I want real-world cars, dammit!

I guess the Lincoln team has learned a valuable lesson. Finish no matter what. Had they not missed three events they would easily been ahead if not neck and neck with the CTS's. The LS is strong and running good. They fixed their cooling problem after they blew the first engine. They were running a radiator too small for the 4.6L monster. This is good stuff for Lincoln. It's getting a lot of press especially on Ford's main website and Lincoln Vehicles main site. Also, these guys haven't had sleep for three days so I bet they are slowing down but they are definitely doing a great job.

Go TEAM LS!

Go TEAM LS!

It had three runs that it did better than one of the V's throughout the whole season. Other than the wet skidpad and whatever happened at the second Road America event, it never came close to the #43 CTS-V. The few races it missed wouldn't have helped that dramatically, I'm afraid.

Also, I don't believe that I mentioned before, but both CTS-V's were running without being able to switch the car into competition mode(it has multiple performance settings). This may explain the lack-luster 1/4 mile and track times.

I disagree. The CTS V is a strong car but it's hard to go head to head when Team LS didn't run for three events. Also, it's a time event anyway so track conditions can vary instantly. Have you seen the in board video feed from the LLSOC Mirror site? This will show the track conditions that the LS faced. I don't know what it was like for the CTS Teams. Also, the CTS teams have professional drivers if I'm not mistaken. The LS team has three Ford engineers driving. Experience is the key to this format of racing.

Just to interject -

If you take away the CTS-V's scores from the 3 events that the LS missed (so you're only looking at the events they all competed in), the point totals are:

4345 - #43 CTS-V

3450 - #44 CTS-V

3030 - #59 LS

It was still beat by 2 cars that were closer to stock and who could not shift into competition mode. :p

:V

I do agree with you that they are not in the same class though. ;)

The 43 V was a Mallett car... the 44 closer to stock

Gothicaleigh... I know your handle must mean something?

I went to one of the races and I know that the boys were trying to "save" the equipment...(they didnt want to blow engine #2!)

I think that even though the LS placed 3rd in our little American sedan game here, it sure was fun and I do believe that the LS platform with the aid of a manual trans next time around (I hope) could give the Vs even more competition.

Moreover I REALLY wish this OLOA experience will convince Ford LM to BUILD THE DAMN CAR!!!! They can't let Cadillac have ALL the fun :)
:V

ok maybe a dumb question but what exactly is this race about. do they actuall y go across america. what consist in the race. is there any where to see videos of the cars.

The Ford/Lincoln engineers campaigned the OLOA LS for 04 and 05 seasons. The course changes every year. The LLSOC helped finance and promote the team. It was GREAT fun while it lasted!
http://www.onelapofamerica.com/

Somewhere between March and August 06 the last LS will be built.

What could have been a great start for Lincoln was squandered because management just did not get it...and they STILL don't!
They would not keep developing the car.

I still get folks asking me what that cool car is I'm driving!
They spent and are STILL spending huge on their money-losing european brands.

Jaguar= Georgeous = money down the drain.... and it affects the whole Ford product line.

The Mustang is the ONLY winner... SUVs are on their asses and they have to build 3 rebadged Mazdas in Mexico for crying out loud!

Am I crazy? Or is Ford management crazy??

Hi Ken,

I'm originally from Suburban Detroit and it really sickens me to see these developments!

How's the LS parts biz going?

Doing pretty good. Just working away at it. Good to see you here!

Yeah, shame on Ford, wasting all that money on a company that's a leader in building aluminum-intensive vehicles. If they'd never bought Jaguar, we wouldn't have to worry about this forum, because the LS wouldn't exist as we know it. From its Jaguar AJ-V8-derived V8 to its aluminum skin to its suspension, the DEW-98 cars had not-insignificant design input from Jaguar. What a horrible investment. :waving:

Umm, have you looked at the F-series Trucks lately? For the last, oh, twenty years or so? Those aren't exactly money losers.

Big trucks and big SUVs have all been hit hard recently.

I found that we could tow a 4500 lb boat and all kinds of stuff through the mountains of California with a Honda Pilot! We get double the mileage of our old Suburban... and around town it is much more livable and much more affordable to run and own!,,,Go figure?!?

The Lincoln folks had a contract with a Michigan manufacturer to handle the aluminum body work on the LS hood, front fenders and trunklid. Lincoln used aluminum before Jaguar did.

The all-aluminum XJ came later..... But it still looked the same as the OLD model!! What were they thinking??
