About a week after I bought my 96 conti the a/c went out on it. I was told it was the compressor, so i replaced it, I also recharged it with r134 , but it still blows nothing but regular air, not hot not cold can anyone help?

i have the same problem. does your compressor click on then off again? Hope someone can help us troubleshoot this problem, i live in florida, very hot.

I'm kind of going through the same stuff right now. I replaced the Evaporator line/Refill line then when recharging it blew a small leak in the condensor. So now my bro is going to fix it, because I'm so not paying $1,200 to have Lincoln fix it, assuming another leak doesn't form.

So my recommendation is go buy a kit that has dye in it. Also, do you know you installed the compressor correctly? Anytime you replace the compressor, you should also replace the dryer. You will also need to prep the compressor with the right amount of oil.

a/c problem almost fixed

My mechanic friend is going to run a wire from the a/c to the driver side seat where I can flip a switch (parts are like 10 bucks at autozone ) and presto a/c cycles, because the clutch doesnt cycle at all (no power from eatc control) so hopefully this works if not then back to the drawing board. I live in southern minnesota where it was almost 90 degrees yesterday with like 80mpercent humidity so I understand where youre coming from!

If this does no work, there are other things that could be causing this. Definately do the dye test. Make sure there are not any leaks in the lines. Also check the lines for any restrictions. If you see any frost rings on the lines they could be blocked. This may cause the A/C to not blow cold. May want to check the Orifice tube to. It's easy to remove, there should be a clip on the line and you can pull the tube out after disconnecting the line. Alot of times the orifice tube is where the restriction is.

Well from my last post my a/c is blowing super cold air, maybe it would work for you also!

If you are not getting powere from EATC then the head unit is bad just pick one up at a junk yard that has the same model number these are cheap(around 30 dollers) and are easy to install!

well, heat worked fine, and when turning from heat to a/c temperature changed from hot air to just cool air, but a/c works well now, thanks for all the help guys!
