I've been looking up the intake set ups on the ls forums and couldn't decide which one would be best. I've seen some where the air filter is ran down to the front bumper. Also where instead of placing the filter in the bumper, tubing or something of that sort is placed there to funnel air up to the filter, which I think its called the ram intake, I'm new all this so i'll probably get the terms wrong. Which set up would be better as in horsepower gain and amount of air flow?

My suggestion is KKM intake filter (one piece system) and intake tube (aluminum or stainless steel)

I got alot of HP, free air flow, growl under throttle and of coarse an extra 6-8mpg

I believe running the filter out of the engine bay may get you a few more hp (1-2 at most.) However, to do this properly you have to cut the hole in the frame bigger with a dremel so that you can fit the tubing through it which is something I'm not willing to do. Personally I would say go with a heat shield and run a tube up to the filter from the lower bumper.

na dude...just the KKM and intake tube I bought from LSKONCEPTS

I was getting 13.5 before I put them in..now it 19.5 with most city using same Chevron gas station

K&N FIPK for the win
my MPG's went to $hit after the change, probably because it sounds so sweet that i can't keep my foot out of the pedal!!!

are there any actual dyno results for these cold air kits? I was looking at the factory induction and after the mass air, it does not seem that restricted, if any at all.

clearly your car was f-ed up before the intake. 13.5 mpg is pretty rediculous.

Lead foot :-D

I guess that's what happens when you do upwards of 1400lb leg presses for an over extended period of time :'(

B.S.

You're telling me you had a lead foot BEFORE the intake, but calmed down on it once u got the "performance" mod?? yyyyeah. lol

nope...that :q:q:q:qs a scam...by buddy has one in his Toyota Tundra and all it does is whistle

I'm sure KKM would love your testimonial on their product.

I know I saw barely any increase in MPG with both the KKM and then the K&N.

others have seen differences in the response of a Gen 1 vs a Gen 2

And go ahead and think what you want to....I'm the one who's driven my car before/after.....no one else hear has.....

would running a tube from the bumper to the filter do anything to the computer? would it mess with the maf sensor?

Pete, I have a gen 1, my MPG before was around 19 mpg, now with my KKM its about 19.5... Something was wrong with your car. 13.5 is worse than some full size trucks. Simply putting an intake on your car does not increase you MPG by 6... it just DOESNT.
