About a month ago the degas bottle on my 06 LS started leaking. I didnt have time to order one through the dealer so i went and got one from oreillys because they had it in stock. I replaced it with the doorman one from oreillys. This past weekend I was in stopped traffic on the highway and I felt a hard pop from the front. The bottle had split in half where the seams are at. So yesterday I ordered and picked up a new bottle from ford, today I installed it and returned the doorman bottle back to oreillys and the counter guy got mad and told me that they are manufactured by the exact same company. True or false?

Its obvious huh, im looking for proof just so I can go and show that idiot that it was not just a "one time flaw" like he said.

Search this forum. There are lots of posts from people who tried Dorman bottle and had failure of one sort or another in months or less. Probably should search for it spelled correctly (Dorman) and incorrectly (Doorman).

Dorman bottles suck. Tell the guy at the counter to try an Oem Ford cap on the Dorman bottle and see if it fits. It wont fit so they are not manufactured by the same company.

you best double check that! It's not a good fit and will eventually leak down the pressure. (from what I've read)

I have a Motorcraft cap on my Dorman bottle, it fits fine.

Then its not a Dorman bottle or its not a Motorcraft cap. Or you dont realize that its not sealing right. The thread pitch is opposite on Dorman bottles, they pitch down. Motorcraft pitch straight.

Yea, i had to go and get a cap from ford. The motorcraft bottle seems to have thicker threads.

The motorcraft bottle is a thicker sidewall entirely. I cant remeber where I have the measurements but the the Dorman bottle is thinner plastic altogether. Hence many failures....you get what you pay for.
