Difference between 97 and 98 lsc?

The door strikers are chrome in 97 and black in 98. The mirror switch is a little more rounded on the edge. The center rear view mirror has different buttons. The evap setup for the tank has only one valve. Trans has better internals on the 98. The cover for the valley is rubber on 97 and cardboard on the 98. Thats about all I can remember.

I thought the rack mount for the rack and pinion was different but I was told otherwise by people on here.

basically nothing, abs sensors are diff on 98, trans is better on a 98 than 97, and 98;s dont come with the alternator intech cover, other than that, and getting into useless info, there isnt really any significant difference.

how much better are the internals on the tranny? would a j-modded 97 tranny with a cooler on it be just as good? if not does any company make an upgrade kit for these? I have a transmission guy i'd just like to know if any complete kits are available..

if you have a really good working 97 trans and you j-mod it and put an external cooler on it, it will deffinetly help the life of the trans, it will work fine, but if you want stronger improved gut just fine a 98+ 4R70W. my 97 lsc still has the 97 trans in it, i dont know if its j modded but it shifts hard, i have an external cooler on it, and to my knowledge it has over 160k and its mean as hell!!

The jbl plates on the front speaker covers changed too
HIDs have somewhat different wiring
Drivers airbag has inlaid Lincoln star
But Seriously Any trans cooler would be fine
Just depends if you drive it in the winter or not

Don't forget about the beauty cover for the alternator.

Speaking of differences, I've asked this before and didn't get a reply (probably because no one knows for sure): Does anyone know why A/C parts are different between 93-97 and 98? I need a replacement for my discharge line and the only one still available is for 93-97. At least that's how Rock Auto has them listed. I can't imagine what could possibly be different.
Oh yeah, and the drier/accumulator is only listed for 93-96.

Aside from the trans being the best out of the bunch, which I knew when I got mine. I wanted to hear of any other things being better on the 98' than 97'. Seems very minimal?

I'm coming up on my trans fluid change time and am thinkin Jmod now even tho I have a shift kit I got 4 years ago for my 96'

Would there be a significant difference if I were to run dual coolers like the guy on here with the vortech'd mark running 10's?

Well when installing an additional trans cooler you want to still have the factory radiator cooler in line too. Reason being is you do not want the trans fluid over cooled or not heating up fast enough. That way the radiator coolant will heat the trans fluid up and the additional cooler will take out the extra heat the factory one could not if it gets to that point?

At least that is what I have been told by the trans Guru's that I have dealt with :shifty:

Interior 98 black is not the same black as a 97, more of a dark gray. Pretty much everything else has been covered.

I just wasn't sure if it'd be overkill for my goals. I'm basically gonna go 4.30's, a streetable stall, about a 150 shot of nitrous, and full exhaust.

Make sure your fuel system is up to a 150 shot and I might even tune it just to make sure you don't hurt a piston?

Oh I planned on both of those things. Coastal dyno will be doing all of my tuning and most of my mods.

Could you please recommend me a good cooler to buy?

You want to install a good plate type cooler. For my 97, I installed the largest Hayden 30,000 lb plate type transmission cooler I could find like the following.

Link

I recently towed a trailer weighing 6000 lbs for 1500 miles and I had no issues whatsoever with the transmission or the car. I was pulling the load up some pretty steep hills and even had to go into 1st gear several times.
