I had some major misfiring issues and found three bad coils. I have replaced them and I now have no misfire issues. However, one problem remains. I still have a major lack of power and the more throttle I give it, the more power I loose. Also, as I give throttle, the engine is much, much louder than ever before. So, did I fry my cats?

I was wantind to know every indication out there to confirm that this is the problem. Is there a CEL code? A test to perform, ect.

Also, I can't afford to buy OEM replacement cats. Is there some universal replacement out there? Like a high perf straight through design. I have no emissions testing in my area so thats not a factor. Looking for the cheapest way through this...whatever the problem is. Thanks in advance

if you have no emissions testing then just get rid of the cats. if the cel would be a problem for you as a result of doing this, you can get cheap universal cats through summit and jegs or your local store. i picked a couple up from napa for a buddy of mine $35 each, 2 1/4 in and out and they were pretty compact, so you could probably fit them almost anywhere.

I already told you how to check it easy in your last post on this.

I know you did and I appreciate the input. Now that I solved the misfire problem I'm just looking for as much input as possible to confirm that I need new cats and options to address it.

If I just remove the cats all together I obviously will have a CEL...that won't bother me but will that effect the way the engine will run?

Car will run fine with no cats. There are aftermarket cats that are not bad on price think 150 ish. Direct bolt on. If you go no cats you can get MIL's to keep the check engine light off with no cats. Look them up.

direct fit aftermarket cats are made by eastern catalytic co...I bout 2 for 250 a piece....and I'm thinking about trading in the lincoln so If you need them I'll let them go for less than that pm me good luck man

Well, I went ahead and removed to the two upstream O2 sensors from the cats to see if I would regain any power and i sure did! My cats are definatly toast. Now I need to find the cheapest way to resolve the problem. And the quickest. Thank's

Isn't it crazy how much faster you can go just running thru two little 5/8 holes then clogged cats? LOL Glad I could help.
