]Still learning about my 86 Mark VII lsc, were these cars equipped with auto door locks? Are the doors suppose to lock when the transmission is engaged or when the car gets to a designated speed? My auto locks on either door panel don't work anyway, I plan on fixing them but not sure how to approach it.

They are supposed to lock when you put the car in drive. To change the lock actuators, you need to take the door panel off. Start by taking the trim around the seat control off, then take the screws behind the trim out. Unplug the seat control harness. Then, take the speaker cover off, and take the screw behind that out. Then, carefully work your way around the door popping the clips out. When you take the door panel off, unplug the light in the door. The lock actuator is toward the back end of the door. Unplug it and unhook it from the linkage. There are 2 rubbers on each side of the actuator holding it in the frame of the door. Push on it and it should slide out of the housing. Repeat in reverse order! I think thats everything

You can also disable/enable this feature...
when the battery is disconnected, it turns it off
I found the keypad sequence to enable it in the owners manual, I just cant remember it off the top of my head...not enough coffee

Hey Talon,

did you get any chance to get that code for me? Because I'm restoring a Mark and we continually diconnect the battery. None of the features described above worked. Is there really a code to reactivate the features?

The Autolock Feature of the Keyless Entry System can be activated or deactivated by using the Keyless Entry Key Pad.

1. To activate Autolock Feature into keyless entry system, enter the five-digit code from your code card.
2. Within five (5) seconds of entering the code, depress and hold the 7/8 button.
3. Within the next five (5) seconds, while holding the 7/8 button, depress and release the 3/4 button.
4. The Autolock Feature is now programmed into the Keyless Entry System.
